AKHA DEPUTY SPEAKER SPLASHES CHRISTMAS GIFTS ON CONSTITUENTS, OTHERS. ...... YOU'RE A POLITICIAN WITH HUMAN FACE - CHIEFTAIN

2020 Christmas ,the people of Okobo State Constituency of Akwa Ibom State once again have  reasons to count blessings and sing praises to God on account of the bold choice they made few years ago when they voted massively for Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey to represent them in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

Their votes did not only propel the former Okobo Local Government Chairman and State Officer of The Peoples Democratic Party to the House of Assembly, but her rich political pedigree and  examplary character subsequently elevated her to the position of the Deputy Speaker of the Hallowed Chamber for the second time, having served in the same capacity during the 6th Assembly.

Therefore, as part of activities to celebrate the glad tidings of Christmas, the Deputy Speaker, within the week, in her Oti- 0ro residence, Okobo LGA, thought it necessary to extend her benevolence and goodwill to her constituents as a way to also share with the people,  God’s blessings upon her life and her family in the Challenging year 2O20.

The event was a communion of communal family Members, Okobo Unity forum, Village Council, PDP family and other good people of Okobo. The event gave no regards to political affiliations as all and sundry flooded the venue of the events with great expectations that were all realizable.

Those  present were blessed with   bags of rice,  tubers of yam, packaged assorted Cow Meat,  yards of wrapper , cash gift and other  goodwill that will be remembered for a long time.

The Deputy Speaker in her usual kind-heartedness and emphatic response to the needs of her people in a season that specifically reminds the world of the need to extend God’s love for mankind, donated one big Cow and food items to the Oti- Oro Village Council, in addition to the assorted food items she sent to Motherless Homes.

Within the Period the Deputy Speaker also extended her goodwill to the Wives of Slain Police Officers at the State Command of Nigeria Police Force, Ikot Akpan Abia where  she donated bags of rice, life fowls, Tubers of yam, wrappers and Cash.

Still within the period, she hosted a group of Oro- Uyo Big Boys in her Uyo residence where she doled out specially packaged  Cow Legs and Cash to them. Also the leadership, Board of Trustees and critical Stakeholders of Essu Nlap Oro( Supreme Council of Oro Nation Youths) also smiled home after paying a Visit to the People's Lawmaker.

Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey is  known for her goodwill and large heartedness. Her way of giving out has no doubt  touched the people’s hearts and endeared her more and more to the people. She is known by her People as a politician with human face. Because it is in her character to touch lives with what God has graciously entrusted to her hands, it was however not surprising that the Deputy Speaker took the step she did as a born giver, philanthropist, emancipator, grassroots mobilizer and people-inclined representative in whose blood flows the life-sustaining milk of benevolence.

It was hard afterwards to withstand the sweet tears of joy and thunderous thanks to God that filled the atmosphere as each and every recipient of the items filed out in turns and certainty that they were blessed.

Like one of the recipients, Chief Okokon Okpo the President, Okobo Unity Forum who received  large quantities  of wrapper on behalf of the forum commented, "the Deputy Speaker’s memorable gesture was a commendable show of concern and hospitality especially to families who lacked the means to fully share in the joyous moment of Christmas and had lost hope that a blessing of that magnitude could come their way this year. This why we described Princess Felicia Bassey as  a politician with a human face."

Delegates during the last local Government  Elections who also benefitted immensely from the Deputy Speaker's Christmas Package also expressed excitement about the lawmaker's large heartedness.

It must therefore be emphasized that Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey’s magnanimity is not limited to seasons. But the recent Christmas largesse was significant for the fact that the people never thought or believed the Deputy Speaker can deprive herself so soon once again on the account of her constituents. It was also spectacularly important for the reason that the present economy has given so many persons ample opportunities to justify their stinginess. Again, the significance of the Deputy Speaker’s Christmas compassion could be seen in the fact that many must have been reminded of God’s abiding compassion for His chosen people no matter how hard times may be and a fore gleam of better days to come should all of us keep faith in His promises.

But there was one other important aspect Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia stressed as the driving force for the event: “I was never raised up in family that only one person wants to eat alone. In addition, Christmas reminds me of the selfless sacrifice and outstanding love of Christ on the Cross for our sake as sinners. It is therefore a season for me to show love both to the needy and the rich..

From whatever dimension her record of service is accessed and assessed, it can be said with a sense of modesty that the Deputy Speaker has performed remarkably well. From law-making to oversight to representation, the tall record of her dedicated service to the people speaks volumes. The Christmas reunion was therefore a singular opportunity for her to reiterate her love and solidarity to the people. And the message or messages were passed:  The Deputy Speaker believes that it was on account of the people’s votes that she was able to get to the House of Assembly. She also believes that there will be  need  once again in the future for her Felicia Bassey can never be counted among those who bite the finger that fed them.

The eulogies and words of commendation poured on the Deputy Speaker were but testimonies to the law-maker’s characteristic generosity.

Our great law-maker and trusted representative, we say thank you for passing a message of love to your Constituents with your Christmas presents!
