Modular Refinery: AKHA Speaker Tasks Ibikpe Indigenes On Cooperation

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has called for cooperation from the people of Ibikpe, Ikpa and Ikot Oku Villages in Uruan Local Government Area, to fast tract the establishment of the proposed 50,000 BPD Modular Refinery in the area. The Speaker gave the charge on recently at the Public Forum/Scooping Workshop on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the proposed Refinery, organised by the Rhema COG Energy Development Limited with the Federal Ministry of Environment, held at Emrosy Hotel, Uyo. Breaking: British Court Gives P&ID Go-Ahead To Seize Nigeria's Assets Worth $9bn

A British court has given Process and Industrial Development Limited (P&ID) the go-ahead to seize Nigerian assets worth $9 billion. P&ID got a judgement in its favour in London on Friday. The case in contention is a 2010 deal agreement to build a gas processing plant in Calabar which collapsed because Nigeria did not meet its end of the bargain. Aniekan Bassey, member representing Uruan State Constituency and Speaker of the Seventh Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has been unveiled as the driver of the Assembly. Life Threatening: Ikot Ukpong Bridge Caves In, Community Cut Off

Ikot Ukpong Bridge in Obot Akara Local Government Area has finally collapsed while a truck loaded with cement from Ikot Ekpene attempted to pass through the road this morning. People are seen helping themselves with the cement while a large chunk of the product is buried in the stream. Collapsed Mbiokene Bridge, Roads Receives Govt Attention As Inyangeyen Assures Speedy Construction

Following the collapse of a bridge across Mbiokene river linking Nnung Obong in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom state government, on Thursday, announced that it is taking urgent steps to ensure speedy construction of ancillary roads in the area and handing over of a new bridge to replace the collapsed one. Internet Fraud: EFCC Nabs 6 In Uyo

It was time-up for six suspected internet fraudsters, better known as "Yahoo Boys" on Wednesday August 7, 2019, as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Uyo Zonal Office in an early morning raid, stormed their apartment on No.28b Church Road Uyo, and rounded them up. The suspects are: Ugochukwu Ndukwu (a 25-years-old disc jockey, DJ); Stanley Ibeh, 27 (who claimed to be an interior decorator); Godwin Akpan and John Larry, aged 26 and 24 respectively, who both said they are students; Godwin Ini Obot, 27 who claimed to be a cinematographer and 24-year-old Victor Ejiogu, who said he was a serving member of National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC). Even though the suspects claimed to be involved in different legitimate lines of businesses and academic pursuits, forensic analysis of their laptops revealed scam mails and documents that established their involvements in internet fraud. Amos Etuk Emerges NUJ Chairman, Defeats Joe Roberts With 119 Votes

Comrade Amos Etuk has been declared winner in the just concluded elections of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council. Comrade Etuk clinched the Chairmanship position defeating his closest rival Joseph Robert 275 to 156 votes and was returned elected. Comrade Saviour came third with 19 votes with Franklyn Isong 11 votes. Aniefiok Udonkwak had only 1 vote. Comrade Nene Albert emerged Vice Chairman having entered the race without a contender. Comrade Dominic Akpan defeated Comrade Ebong Okon to clinch the office of Secretary. Others who made it to the new Exco were New NUJ EXCO, Akwa Ibom State Council Mfon Hanson, Assist.
