Strides In Refuse Evacuation, Management: Prince Ikim Honoured



Few months after Akwa Ibom under Governor Udom Emmanuel was declared the cleanest State in Nigeria, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA), Hon Prince Akpan Ikim has been honored by independent Publishers of Magazine Association of Nigeria (IMPAN), with a National Merit Award for change and good governance in meeting the demands and yearnings of the masses.

The Abuja delegation of this Association which is widely known as an umbrella formed to Shield the publishers of Magazine in Nigeria, made the presentation today, August 16, 2019 at AKSEPWMA's office, New park road, Itam.

In his remarks, the President of IPMAN, Prince Jude Ubaka, disclosed that Ikim's nomination for the award was based on the investigative report gathered about his achievements on routine monitoring, supervision and implementation of the State Law against indiscriminate dumping of refuse around illegal spot across the State. The IMPAN representative described the former Council Boss of Oruk Anam "as an accomplished world class development professional with a unique track record on waste management".

Speaking further, Prince Ubara applauded Hon Ikim for showing capacity and working to meet the international best practice. Hear Him: "We appreciate your doggedness with your dynamic team in transforming the face of the State. Your good performance gained the admiration of the Government and the State Assembly to forge a common front to enact laws that created the enabling environment for the Agency to carry out its constitutional duty to the latter. This remarkable achievement led to court order that empowered the agency to evacuate all road side traders and those trading at all unauthorized locations in the city center"

"You and your Unique Management team of experts also overhaul the State Waste management system without fear or favour to build a formidable and purposeful environmental health officers that are doing justice to Government policy by arresting and prosecuting offenders who dump refuse indiscriminately" Ubara Added.

The representatives of the unique body of Magazine publishers further applauded Governor Emmanuel for the appointment of Hon Ikim, noting that the Waste management Agency under the mantle of Ikim has achieved greatness in giving the dividend of democracy to the people. According to them " hygienic environment is the secret of healthy living among citizens or residents of any State".

Responding, Hon Ikim who expressed shock on how non-residents of Akwa Ibom State would tell so much about Governor Emmanuel's programmes, appreciated IMPAN for finding him worthy of Honour. The waste management Boss dedicated the award to his Boss - Governor Emmanuel, for giving him a platform and opportunity to contribute his quota towards the growth and development of the State. Ikim While also thanking other board members and his entire team for always responding to his call, promised to not to leave any stone unturned in his quest to keep Akwa Ibom clean, green and beautiful.

AKHA Defers Giving Resolution To Extend Transition Committees..mandates Committee to verify performance of councils
