According to Mr. Akpan, “To ensure quality and standard, working with a federal institution like the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital kept us on our toes because keeping to specification was of essence. So, I really appreciate all the assistance we received from the Works Department of the Institution.”

He commended the Dr EmemAbasi Bassey-led administration, saying “the Chief Medical Director of UUTH, Dr. EmemAbasi Bassey, has instilled in the staff a new zeal and drive to work. He has also given the complex a complete facelift. We appreciate him so much.”

Mr. Akpan further said the project also came with the reactivation of the water treatment plant to enhance the hygiene at the hospital.

Receiving the project, the CMD, who also commissioned the facility, said “the need for expansion was borne out of the high consumption level of water by staff and patients at the hospital.”

He emphasized that the choice of De-Mbarukas was based on its track record and quality assurance antecedence, saying “with this facility, every single drop of water in this complex is treated.”

He thanked the contractor for adhering to standard and delivering the project within the stipulated timeframe, regardless of the economic downturn characterized by COVID-19.

In his remarks, the Director of Works, Engr. Bassey Etuk, who expressed satisfaction with the job done, said the project will enhanced complete reticulation of water within the complex.
