40th birthday: Uduak Luke awards scholarship, Fetes FIDA, NAWOJ, NES

Dr. Uduak Onofiok Luke,  wife of the Member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency Rt. Hon.(Barr.) Onofiok Luke  may not have gone the pop way to celebrate her 40th birthday in Uyo, rather she chose to give back to members of the society by awarding scholarship to the best graduating student of her almamater-Union Secondary School as well as give financial support to FIDA, NAWOJ and NES.


At De Angelo hotel in Uyo,  Uduak Luke, in an emotion-laden voice recalled how God has been good to her and her family members, and attributed her achievements in life to God's mercy.


The University lecturer hailed her husband Barr. Onofiok Luke for being her unshakable pillar of support and a good adviser.


She also commended the first lady, Dr. Martha Emmanuel for living by example and assisting the less privileged in the society.


Speaking,  the celebrant's friend Mrs. Inemesit Enobong Uwah described Dr. Uduak Luke as a friend in need and indeed.


Mrs. Uwah confirmed that Uduak Luke has been inspiration to many women in the society, and urged others to join the celebrant contribute to their different almamaters.


“Uduak Luke is a friend in need and indeed. She understands me very well. She has been an inspiration to many. She goes all out to assist ladies. We have a lot to do for our Almamata.” Inemesit Uwah said.


Reacting to the gesture, the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of National Association of Women Journalists,  NAWOJ, Mrs. Uduak Ekong applauded Dr. Uduak Luke for the support,  adding that the assistance will go a long way to further the planned training for female journalists.


In her words,  the chairman, International Federation of Women Lawyers in Nigeria (FIDA) Akwa Ibom chapter,  Barr. Emem Ette,  appreciated the celebrant for choosing to support FIDA.


She revealed that the support will go a long way to feed children within their care.


“FIDA is not an association but God's heart. We are not talking about women but our children on the streets. We must work together to protect them.”


The State Secretary, Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Godwin Evans Udofia thanked Mrs. Uduak Luke for the support.


He explained that Dr. Uduak Luke is the first individual to assist NES in Akwa Ibom State.


The highpoint of the brief ceremony was cutting of cake donated to the celebrator by NAWOJ.
