MPM INAUGURATION: OKOBO STAKEHOLDERS UNITE FOR GOVERNOR UDOM'S SUCCESSION PLAN...SET FOR MASSIVE CAMPAIGNS FOR MEMBERSHIP AND VOTERS REGISTRATION

Governor Udom Emmanuel's succession agenda in 2023 may be devoid of hiccups and hitches  in Okobo Local Government Area, as relevant political stakeholders and actors have unanimously resolved to work together towards supporting whosoever the incumbent Governor and the Party hierarchy will present to fly the flag of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)in the next general elections. 


The resolution was reached  at the end of the Ward Committees'  Inauguration  in Okobo on Saturday, November 6, 2021, ably led by the Local Government Coordinator and Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey.


Addressing the large crowd of peacemakers and PDP Members who converged  at their  various wards in Okobo,  Princess Felicia Bassey noted that the Peace Advocacy Movement conceived by Governor Udom Emmanuel to stimulate,strengthen and increase  the membership of PDP,has its principal objectives of sustaining the prevailing peace in the State which has attracted huge investors and mobilizing massive support for the succession plan of the Governor.


Describing Governor Udom Emmanuel as a symbol of peace , Princess Bassey posited  that the only way the prevailing peace in the State can be sustained is for  the people of Okobo to unanimously  support the Governor to produce a  God- fearing, peace loving and development- driven  successor who will upped the ante of performance in industrialization, infrastructural renaissance, job and wealth creation, Education, political inclusion, Agricultural Revolution Youth and Women Empowerment.


According to the Local Government Coordinator, Governor  Udom Emmanuel has not only impressed Akwa Ibom People through effective populist policies by providing a conducive socio- economic atmosphere, but has also demonstrated unwavering commitment and accelerated strides in the growth and development of the State and humanity, hence the need to rally round and support his succession plan.


Princess Bassey who expressed gratitude to Okobo People for coming out in large number in order to embrace the peace project,assuring that the Maintain Peace Movement which is a vibrant arm of PDP will put smiles on the faces of all Members. She urged the people of Okobo to take the PVCs registration and PDP Membership e- registration exercises seriously to enable them discharge their franchise effortlessly in 2023.


Also speaking, political heavy weights in the area, Chief (Barr) Ekpenyong  Ntekim, who is also a member of the Local Government Area Coordinating Committee and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the State; Rt. Hon. (Chief) Asukwo Odiong, Member of the Local Government Area Coordinating Committee & former Member, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; Rt. Hon.( Dr.)Ubuo Ubuo, immediate past Chairman of Okobo, Chief Dr. Effiong Osung, Chief (Hon.) Okokon Okpo- National Coordinator, Okobo Unity Forum and former Vice Chairman,Okobo; Hon. Maurice Fimba- immediate past chapter  Chairman of PDP, Rt. Hon. Asukwo Koffi- Vice Chairman of Okobo, Hon. (Pastor) Joe Offong, and  Mr. Iniobong Esung, Secretary of the MPM in Okobo, unanimously endorsed the Maintain Peace Movement  in Okobo and predicted landslide Victory for PDP in Okobo come 2023.


Barr Ntekim admonished all politicians in Okobo to  shun internal bickerings, embrace love,peace and put the interest of Governor Udom Emmanuel for 2023 project above their personal interest and work hand in cloves with the Coordinator and Deputy Speaker towards mobilizing support for the Governor and his succession plan.


On his part, the Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Hon.(Dr.) Sylvester Attah who is also a Member of the Local Government Steering Committee, expressed gratitude to Governor Emmanuel for promoting good governance and sustaining the peace project He initiated six years ago.


The Chairman who accompanied the  Local Government Coordinator and other Committee Members to all the wards,reiterated the position of Okobo People in Supporting the Completion Agenda and succession plan of Governor Udom Emmanuel. He also thanked his people for embracing the Maintain Peace Movement and their readiness to embark on Voters registration and PDP Membership e- registration.


In their separate remarks, Ekeya Ward Leader who is also the immediate past Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area,Rt. Hon. Dr. Ubuo Ubuo, that of Nung Atai Ube Ward 1, Hon. Chief Atta Okon Atta,himself former Chairman,Okobo Transition Committee,and the Leader of Okopedi Ward 1, Mr. Boniface David Ekpenyong, Offi Ward 2, Rt. Hon. Chief Asukwo Odiong,  Eweme Ward 2, Chief Dr. Effiong Osung, Eweme I, Chief Okokon Okpo,  Nung Atai 2, Chief Barr Ekpenyong Ntekim,pledged their readiness to collaborate with their ward Coordinators in taking the  peace message to the nooks and crannies of their various wards. 

Expressing strong confidence in the capacity of the Local Government Area Coordinator, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey, the Ward Leaders appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel and the State leadership of Maintain Peace Movement for chosing a grassroots politician with strong support base to lead the crusade for peace Movement in Okobo. They reaffirmed the support and loyalty of their people to the Governor's succession agenda.



 Responding, the Ekeya Ward Coordinator,Mr. Uke Uke, Nung Atai Ube 1, Mr. Bassey Okon Ewa, Okopedi Ward 1, Mr. John Edet Etim, Offi Ward 1,Hon. David Nyong,  Offi 2, Pastor Asukwo Nduonyi, Eweme 1 Mr. Nkereuwem John, Eweme 2,Mr. Magnus Antai and Nung Atai Ube 2, Hon. Friday Umoh, thanked the Stakeholders of their various wards for selecting them to Coordinate the Maintain Peace Movement in their wards.


They also applauded the choice of Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey as the Local Government Coordinator, expressing hope that with the quality of members inaugurated to work with them, PDP can be assured of overwhelming victory in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections as they were ready and prepared to embark on mass mobilization of people to enroll in the ongoing PVCs  and PDP Membership Registration Exercises.

AKHA Defers Giving Resolution To Extend Transition Committees..mandates Committee to verify performance of councils
