Reappointment of Engr. Ben Ukpong into NPC is a reward for Integrity, excellent stewardship - Chief Victor Matthew....Says President Buhari is a detribalized leader

 


Renowned business mogul, grassroots politician, social advocate and public affairs analyst from Akwa Ibom State, Chief Victor Matthew, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari on the reappointment of Engr. Benedict Ukpong for another term in office as National Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom  State in the National Population Commission (NPC), describing the re-engagement as the President’s confirmation of personal satisfaction with and trust in the capacity and service delivery record of the beneficiary.


News of the reappointment was contained in a letter forwarded to the Senate for approval which was read during plenary, Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Chief  Victor Matthew whom majority popularly referred to as the “Voice and Conscience of the Masses” aired his views and gratitude to the President for the reappointment of Engr. Ukpong (FNSE) in an exclusive chat with some media practitioners in Uyo, today. 


He stated that having a leader like President Muhammadu Buhari who is known widely for merit and fairness in matters of appointment choosing to keep Engr. Ukpong in his former office speaks volume of the value he has brought to the office in particular and to the course of good governance championed by the Next Level Mantra of the present administration. 


Chief  Victor said: “Let me begin by saying that I’m not surprised, though. But I’m really excited and proud of the record Engr. Ukpong has written for himself by virtue of his patriotism to the Nigerian Cause, the level of professionalism he has brought into public service discourse, and this testimonial confirmation by no other person but the President of the Federal Republic, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari. We all know who the President is in this matter”.


He added that, besides the earlier appointment, the reappointment of the Urue Offong/Oruko LGA born engineer and leadership expert into the NPC is a reflection of President Buhari’s campaign promise and avowed determination to use the best of brains and most patriotic and capable amongst Nigerians to spearhead the unprecedented transformation that has so far has characterised the present administration.


“There is strong correlation between the President’s acumen and choice of whom he chooses to work with him and the outstanding success of the APC administration at the federal level. For one, it shows proof of what legacy the President wants to bequeath to history in relation to the massive impact he already has created across all critical index of sectoral growth and development of the country. I can only tell the president Thank You for being detribalized, focused and meticulous”, Matthew observed. 


He however uses the instance to urge and challenge the highly celebrated Oro Nation son to remember the popular saying that “to whom much is given, much is expected”, expressing unmistakable confidence that, knowing the his personal and corporate values Mr. Ukpong represents, he will step up his game for even higher elevation in the future. 


Congratulating Ukpong whom he summarily described as “a thorough-bred professional, astute administrator, patriotic Nigerian, dedicated steward and COREN certified engineer who never disappointed in any of the offices he has held”, he maintained that his impeccable and stellar  record of public stewardship has not only advanced national cause but has also brought glory to Akwa Ibom State.


Findings showed that Engr. Ukpong with rich credentials in private and corporate organizations across the country, a fair-play politician who contested as Deputy Governor under the APC in the Akwa Ibom 2015  elections, holder of the traditional title of Nta Nta Oro, was nominated in 2016 into the Board of National Population Commission (NBC),
