Aniekan Bassey Consults Nsit Ubium Elders, Stakeholders Ahead Senate 2023




Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has consulted elders and stakeholders of the party in Nsit Ubium.


The event took place in Uyo on Tuesday at the Ewet Housing residence of the Political Leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob.


Rt. Hon. Bassey expressed gratitude to the people of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area for their show of love, solidarity and overwhelming support during the PDP Primaries and appealed for same magnanimity for him and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections.


While restating his appreciation to the people of Nsit Ubium for their support, the PDP Candidate for the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District seat, unveiled Obong Godwin Awah as the Director General of Uyo Senatorial Campaign Council to the people.


Obong Awah, a community activist, a former Councellor, former Vice Chairman and acting Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, is a practicing lawyer and a Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission.


Among the Nsit Ubium elders and stakeholders who received the Speaker were Senator Effiong Bob; the Member representing Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Barrister Onofiok Luke; the Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Barrister Otobong Bob, among others.


The Speaker was accompanied to the by political leaders across Uruan Local Government Area including Obong Kingsley Oro; Obong Augustine Effiong; Engr. JB Effiong; former Chairman of Uruan and National Coordinator of RHAB Mega Movement, Dr Eventus Edem and a former Special Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Nicholas.

Improved Working Conditions For Teachers In Rural Areas Underway As AKHA Advocates Provision Of Live-In Quarters

Secondary school teachers posted to rural areas in the State would have a sigh of relief as lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has advocated to the State Government for the provision of live-in quarters to reduce the burden of transportation and solve issues of accomodation.  This was sequel to a report presented to the House by the Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon. Kenim Onofiok during Plenary today. Hon. Onofiok informed the House that the Committee had invited stakeholders from the Ministry including Commissioner for Education, Chairmen, State Secondary Education Board, Permanent Secretaries to discuss on the matter. The House thereafter dissolved into the Committee of the Whole where the two recommendations of the report were adopted.
