Aniekan Bassey Soars, Receives Blessings From Itu TRC




Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has received royal blessings from the Itu Traditional Rulersā€™ Council (TRC) ahead of the 2023 elections.


Rt. Hon. Bassey, who paid a consultative visit to the TRC at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Itu Local Government Area, thanked the traditional fathers for their roles in instituting peace and togetherness in their domains.


Speaking, the 2023 Candidate of the PDP for Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, said, if elected, he will work assiduously to justify the mandate of his people through quality representation and also promised to improve on his pet project, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey Youth Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (RHAB-YESS), which he noted has empowered thousands of people across the state.


As an experienced Legislator, Rt. Hon. Bassey said he will not only be vocal, but will attract good roads, empowerment and employment opportunities to Itu LGA and Uyo Senatorial District in general.


"I am well tutored and experienced in legislative business. I will lobby to bring development to Itu LGA. We will attract roads, empowerment and employment to our people. I won't return from the Senate empty handed. I am going to Abuja to lobby for development. We will give quality representation to Uyo SD. That is why we came here to seek your support,ā€ he said.


Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District Campaign Council, Obong Godwin Awah, described the Speaker as the pride of the Senatorial District, saying "Aniekan Bassey is a man with a human face, someone who believes in leadership and development.ā€


Responding, the Paramount Ruler of Itu LGA, Edidem Edet Inyang, commended the Speaker for respecting the traditional institution and expressed hope that he will perform well as a Senator.


According to the Paramount Ruler, "The Speaker has good legislative experience. We will pray for you. We are minority, but as you go to the Senate, don't allow the minority syndrome to weigh you down. Use Diplomacy and get things done. I know you will do well.ā€


Amongst the people present during the visit were the Member representing Itu State Constituency, Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem; the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, Barr. Etetim Onuk, and the immediate past Member representing Itu State Constituency, Hon. Idongesit Ituen.


Highpoint of the visit was prayers of victory offered by the royal fathers for Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey and Hon. Kufre-Abasi Edidem.

AKHA Defers Giving Resolution To Extend Transition Committees..mandates Committee to verify performance of councils
