As Nigeria celebrates 25 years of unbroken democracy, the Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ime B. Okon, has urged Nigerians to continue having faith in the country and its democratic institutions.
In a statement marking Democracy Day, Ime Okon emphasized the importance of faith in Nigeria's democratic journey, saying: "Let us continue to have faith in our country and work together to strengthen our democratic institutions, promote justice, equality, and opportunities for all."
The lawmaker's call to action comes at a time when Nigeria is grappling with various challenges, including insecurity, economic hardship, and political polarization. Despite these challenges, Rep. Okon remains optimistic about Nigeria's prospects, citing the country's resilience and the collective struggles and sacrifices of its citizens.
"Today, we mark a significant milestone in our nation's history - 25 years of unbroken democracy!" Rep. Okon exclaimed. "This day symbolizes our collective struggles, sacrifices, and triumphs. I salute the courage and resilience of our citizens, who have steadfastly upheld the principles of democracy."
