A'Ibom Assembly Passes 2024 Supplementary Budget of N350.1B

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly yesterday passed the supplementary estimates N350,142,918,810 for the year ending 31st December, 2024.


This followed a report which was presented to the House  uring Plenary by the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Dr. Itorobong Etim.


The lawmaker informed the House that the Supplementary Budget has an augmented Recurrent Expenditure of N8,922,513,000, against the Approved Provision of N359,065,431,810, totalling N350,142,918,810.


The revised Budget according to Hon. Etim who represents Uruan State Constituency also has an augmented Capital Expenditure of N82,414,029,890, against the Approved Provision of N490,905,328,180, totalling N573,319,358,070.


After considering the Report at the Committee of Supply, the House approved a Supplementary Budget of N923,462,276,880, with November 28, 2024, at commencement date.

The Speaker, Elder Udeme Otong directed the Clerk, Mrs. Nsikak Orok to communicate the report to the executive for implementation.

The House has adjourned to reconvene on the 5th of December 2024.


Also at Plenary, the House cons Report of its Committee on Economic Planning and Development on the Adjustment made in Approved 2024-2026-2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). 


Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary, to reconvene on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

AKIRS secures N1.2b judgement against Ardent Energy Services LTD ....warns against tax evasion

  The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has secured a landmark judgement against Ardent Energy Services Ltd, an oil servicing company operating in Akwa Ibom State. In a judgement delivered on July 3, 2025 at the Revenue Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, by the Presiding Revenue Judge, Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, the court ordered the defendant to pay to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the sum of N1.2bilion, including penalty and interest on the principal sum.  The judgement was in consequence to Suit No. Rue/77C/2022, filed by AKIRS. With this judgement, which is a major milestone in AKIRS tax compliance drive, the agency warns taxpayers to willingly comply to their civic obligations of always paying their taxes as and when due as there was no hiding place for defaulters.
