The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) has pledged to provide more legislative support to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in the fight against crime.


The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, made this known on Tuesday while playing host to the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Baba Mohammed Azare at the Assembly Complex, Uyo.




According to him, the 8th Assembly  under his leadership was committed to work hand- in -hand with the police force in other to combat crime to the barest minimum in the state.


"The Commissioner,  we're here  to partner and to support you to achieve the Arise Agenda of his Excellency, the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, in ensuring that there's sustainable peace in Akwa Ibom State. We'll not hesitate to give you any kind of support  you need to maintain peace in Akwa Ibom State," he said.


He therefore, commended  the Commissioner of Police for his good work in the area of combating  crime, and also urged  him to do more for the people to keep enjoying sustainable peace in the state.




Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare thanked the Speaker and the members of the House of Assembly for a warm reception given to him and his team, saying that it showed the readiness of the Assembly to partner with the Police in the fight against crime in the state.


The Police Boss said he had already hit the ground running to sustain  peace in the state, adding that the police force had so far recorded significant progress in preventing crimes in the state.

Financial Impropriety, Abuse Of Power: AKHA Receives Petition Against Ikono Chairman

  The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today during Plenary received a petition against the Council Chairman of Ikono, Hon. Otobong Essien, where the Councillors have accused her of misconduct in the discharge of her official duties.
