New A'Ibom HoCS Reports For Duty





The newly sworn-in Head of Akwa Ibom State Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, has assumed duty. This follows the exchange of baton between the outgoing Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Ekerebong Akpan, and the incoming, today.

The emotion-laden handing over ceremony took place  at the old Executive Council Chambers, Governor's Office,Uyo.

In her speech, the outgoing Head of Service, Mrs. Ekerebong Akpan, thanked God for his grace and guidance through out her years in the service to the peak of her career as Permanent Secretary and her appointment as Head of Civil Service. She thanked the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for giving her the opportunity to serve the state and appreciated the governor's support which aided her success.

Mrs. Akpan also appreciated all the Permanent Secretaries/ Heads of Extra Ministerial Departments, Labour Leaders and the entire workers for their support. She congratulated her successor and assured him that with his track record in the service and expected support, he is destined to set new records. She called for support from all the stakeholders to enable him succeed.
In his speech, the new Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, also expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, for the confidence reposed in him and assured that with God's grace and support, he shall do his utmost to justify the confidence. He thanked the Permanent Secretaries, the Organized Labour, staff and other stakeholders for the wide acceptance and best wishes that heralded his appointment.

The event was watched by Permanent Secretaries in a Ceremonial College of Permanent Secretaries Meeting where the Dean of the College/ Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Mr. Uduak Iwoh and others, eulogized the administrative prowess and motherly disposition of their outgoing Boss,saying that the service will be missing her wealth of knowledge and experience.

They congratulated the new Head of Civil Service on his appointment and thanked the Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, for the choice of Elder Essien for the Public Service top job. The Dean of the College,on behalf of the Permanent Secretaries, assured him of their support and cooperation.
 The new Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Edem Essien, a Geologist,was, until his appointment, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works.
