Ati Annang Inducts AKHA Speaker, Ors




Foremost socio-cultural organization in Annang Nation, Ati Annang, during its Silver Jubilee Anniversary/International Convention Grand Finale, inducted Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, as its Associate Member.

The grand event, themed Annang Nation: Building Our Future Together, took place on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Ati Annang International Secretariat, Ikot Ekpene

The Speaker was also presented with a Certificate of Associate Membership in the presence of the Governor Udom Emmanuel; his deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo; Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem; Paul Usoro (SAN); Ray Ekpu; Atuekong Don Etiebet among others.

Elated by the honour done him, Rt. Hon. Bassey thanked Ati Annang for keeping its aim ā€œof collectively defining, articulating and implementing the goals and ideals of Annang ethnic destiny within the context of the Nigerian ethno-centered nation stateā€ alive.

He charged the organization to continue in its noble path of ā€œpreserving the Annang history, language, culture and empowering and developing Akwa Ibom people.ā€

According to the Planning Committee, the Speaker and all other honorees were selected based on their outstanding sacrifices and contributions to the growth, progress and unity of Annang, Akwa Ibom and Nigeria in general.

The organization, founded initially as Annang Youth Movement on 23rd February, 1994, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has also used its 25th Anniversary to honour and place on marbles 50 past and living Annang legends in its Hall of Fame.

Improved Working Conditions For Teachers In Rural Areas Underway As AKHA Advocates Provision Of Live-In Quarters

Secondary school teachers posted to rural areas in the State would have a sigh of relief as lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has advocated to the State Government for the provision of live-in quarters to reduce the burden of transportation and solve issues of accomodation.  This was sequel to a report presented to the House by the Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon. Kenim Onofiok during Plenary today. Hon. Onofiok informed the House that the Committee had invited stakeholders from the Ministry including Commissioner for Education, Chairmen, State Secondary Education Board, Permanent Secretaries to discuss on the matter. The House thereafter dissolved into the Committee of the Whole where the two recommendations of the report were adopted.
