2020 Target: COOPA Reiterates Capacity Building As Priority For Members

The Coalition of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA) have resolved to training and retraining of her members as a priority for the year 2020.

The statement was made rising from the first EXCO meeting of the organization held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Uyo.

The Chancellor of COOPA and Publisher of The Mail, Mr Ifreke Nseowo-Connoisseur said it is pertinent to equip COOPA members for the media revolution going on in the world through training and retraining.

Mr Ifreke said that training will stand out COOPA members from others in the saturated new media field, adding that professionalism is the watchword of COOPA.

The meeting had in attendance top bloggers and media personalities; the Deputy Vice Chancellor & Publisher of Wetinhappen.com.ng, Mr Aniekan Ekah, the Secretary General, Nelson NseAbasi, the publisher of Ibom Telegraph and Special Assistant to the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr Darlington Udobong, the publisher of Sitippe.ng, Mr Utitofon Morgan, Publisher of Hypestationng.com, Prince 'Goldenchyld' Simeon and social media influencer, Uby Indomitable.

A committee on Training & Capacity Development was set and Mr Utitofon Morgan Ukpong was appointed as Chairman of the committee. In his acceptance speech, Mr Morgan confessed that although their is passion for the job, most bloggers do not have a foundation in Mass Communication, as such, post graduate courses in communication and professional certifications are important to empower them for the job.

The house adjourned further discussion to next meeting in February 2020, which will be a general assembly, to accommodate the over 50 (fifty) members of the group which is the apex umbrella body of online publishers in the state.

AKHA Defers Giving Resolution To Extend Transition Committees..mandates Committee to verify performance of councils
