God Factor, Hard Work, Integrity Panacea To Sustainable Growth - Udom Inoyo

"My message that day is the bedrock of my talk today: and that is, you cannot make sustainable progress without God, hard work, discipline and integrity".

The above was contained in remarks made by Mr. Udom Inoyo during the Uyo Dioecese General Meeting of Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria held recently.

He described youths as playing a vital role in the nation-building process, spanning across the following Active participation in a democratic setting, active participation in civil-society organization and active participation in all organs of private and public sectors and used the occassion to congratulate them for being members  of CYON, as that was a prelude for them to impact on the larger society, and thus contributing to nation building.

He tasked them not be ashamed to fail, but be ashamed only if they let their failure define their future.

Making reference to himself, the Exon Mobil Boss told them that he succeeded despite his poor outing in his 1st WAEC examinations while also competing, despite being an African, a Nigerian, and one from a minority ethnic group.
In his words, "I went to school in Nigeria but contended with colleagues from Ivy League schools
Self-discipline is good for your progress. Rid yourself of distractions.
Hard work, not short-cut, pays: Colossians 3:23- ā€œWhatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters...ā€
"Always focus on the long term sustainable benefits and durable success, and not on short term gains. Don’t be derailed".
Mr. Inoyo while recognizing that Nigeria is bedeviled with various challenges, which according to him has contributed to some youths feeling disillusioned, and at the verge of giving up assured them that there are still opportunities within Nigeria where they need to position themselves for success here.

"Character and Integrity are both Important, but they are not synonymous. Integrity without character can be problematic. As a young person, your lifestyle should be worth emulating. We should all strive to live by what our forebears were known for: a people of character and integrity. Today, I daresay, our young people have become swayed by the luxuries of life and now want quick fixes in some instances. Everyone wants to ā€˜blow or ā€˜hammer’. But at what cost?"

Mr. Inoyo described ongoings in the Sate under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel as that which gives assurranes that the future of youths is bright as "The Governor is walking the talk on peace and development, and promoting industrialization to create jobs". He also called on religious leaders to aside preaching messages of hope and salvation, do more to checkmate the damage to our commonwealth by some of their flocks.
