PDP Congress Fallout: Esit Eket Stakeholders Cry Foul, Decry Imposition, Lack Of Internal Democracy



Following last Saturday's Congress conducted by the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Akwa Ibom State, some stakeholders from th 8 Wards of Esit Eket Local government Area have decried the imposition of candidates and doctoring of results by the Chairman and Secretary of the Congress Committee in the area.

While making the position known to the memer representing the Area in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh during a visit to him yesterday, the stakeholders who came out in their numbers told the Lawmaker to take up the case and ensure that Justice is done.
Speaking separately and unbehalf of the three zones, Hon. Imoh Edet Jonah, Pastor Gldwin Ediyanga,  Prince Akan Etudo the exercise which was peaceful had Party faithful come out enmase to vote for candidates of their choice but they are only baffled that some persons with selfish interest are bent on changing the results to suit their inordinate ambitions.
They noted that the results which were duly signed by INEC have been rejected for a fake result as arranged by the Chairman and Secretary of the Congress Committee Mr. Iniobong Robson and Barr. Bassey Abia Jnr.
They stakeholders noted that the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel during the enlared stakeholders meeting where the issue of the Congress was also discussed, had stated clearly that internal democracy should be upheld while zoning should not be truncated.

Bassey Dan Abia Jnr the stakeholders noted was not fit to be the Secretary as the Party Constitution in section 17 was very clear as it has to do with persons who had defected from the Party only to return while they also took a swipe on the Political Leader of the area Mr. Ben Udobia for condoning such acts of depriving the area internal democracy.
They called on RT. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh to step on and take up the matter with appropriate quaters in a bid oo ensure that Justice if served.

In his response, RT. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh thanked them for the visit while commending them for maintaining peace, decorum even in the face of provocation.
He assured them that he will leave no stone unturned as he will take up the matter before stakeholders of the Party in the State and even the National Committee.
While describing the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as peace loving, proactive and transparent expressed the hope that the matter would be resolved amicably to the satisfaction of all and sundry. He added that the governor was very clear  on issue of sustaining internal democracy and zoning an expressed hisdismay that some persons were only out to put the governor's words to vain by using the Congress to suit their selfish political ambitions.
Akpanusoh expresse optimism that the authentic results would be accepted while calling for the disbandment of the Congress Committee noting that all stakeholders had unanimously agreed that Etebbi should produce the Chapter Chairman

Breaking: A’Ibom Governor Removes Two Aides Amid Restructuring, Alleged PDP Links

  Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has relieved two aides of their duties with immediate effect, the state government announced on Monday. AKIRS secures N1.2b judgement against Ardent Energy Services LTD ....warns against tax evasion

  The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has secured a landmark judgement against Ardent Energy Services Ltd, an oil servicing company operating in Akwa Ibom State. In a judgement delivered on July 3, 2025 at the Revenue Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, by the Presiding Revenue Judge, Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, the court ordered the defendant to pay to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the sum of N1.2bilion, including penalty and interest on the principal sum.  The judgement was in consequence to Suit No. Rue/77C/2022, filed by AKIRS. With this judgement, which is a major milestone in AKIRS tax compliance drive, the agency warns taxpayers to willingly comply to their civic obligations of always paying their taxes as and when due as there was no hiding place for defaulters.
