A'IBOM ASSEMBLY INDUCTS NEWLY RECRUITED STAFF...staffs tasked to be guided by tenents of accountability, equity and good conscience.

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Friday held Seminar for its newly recruited staff with the theme "Navigating the Intricate Landscape of Civil Service Rules" held at the Old Chapel of the Assembly, Uyo


Declaring the event open, the Head of Civil Service Elder, Effiong Essien who was ably represented by its Permanent Secretary, Mr Joseph Esidem commended the State Government for approving the recruitment of fresh hands into the service to fill the yenning manpower gap in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, this is expected to ensure that the Civil Service is revitalized and re-infigurated for better service delivery and thereby charged them to be guided by the tenents of accountability, equity and good conscience



Speaking on the importance of the serminar, the Head of Service admonished participants to be committed to the program as it is the key to Career progression, and its gains determines their altitude in service adding that government expects them  to show reciprocity by deligently dedicating self to assigned responsibility.


Elder Essien also urged the participants to firmly serve the opportunity with both hands, have respect for constituted authorities,

keep to the rules of engagement as well as imbibing the ethics, culture and norms of the civil service; 


The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, in his keynotes address as presented by the Clerk of the Assembly Mrs. Nsikak-Abasi Orok hailed His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for his magnanimity in approving the recruitment of new staff for the Civil Service;


Elder Otong stressed that the recruited staff are privileged to be given a career slot in the Civil Service, and more so to be posted to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly because the Civil Service and the Assembly offer two unique opportunities for life long experiences


The Speaker further appreciated the office of Clerk that had thought it wise to give the newly recruited staff the necessary induction through this Seminar said "What this means is that you will not have to grope about on your own trying to find a footing as the Seminar is designed to ensure that staffers are acquainted with the rudiments of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations which is certainly an advantage for them because "the morning tells the day,  When you begin well, you do well and end well." the speaker opt.


In the same spirit, The Clerk of the House, Mrs. Orok advised staff to use the ample opportunity to build themselves, because "you can't offer what you don't have" and also urged them to make themselves Civil Servants with a difference by getting acquainted with the rudiments of the Civil Service because the Service is guided by rules.


Earlier, the Head of Administration, Mrs. Yingi Edunam in her welcome address said Navigating the Intricate Landscape of Civil Service Rules is a panacea in the journey into the world of Public Service, because understanding these Rules is paramount to their success and effectiveness in your roles


Mrs. Edunam however charged the inducted Staff of the Assembly to be proactive in delving into the Principles, Regulation, and best Office Practices that govern the Civil Service,as the Seminar will provide them with the needed foundation to excel in their careers and that the enlightenment workshop will also ensure that they are well-equipped to uphold the values of integrity, accountability, and service to public.

Linus Utuk, on Office Practice and procedures/Record Keeping in government Ministries/Departments; Barr. Udo Udoma Udofia Deputy Director of Administration (Rtd.) on The Operation of the Public/Service, Its expectations, structure and reward system. Oath of secrecy/legal implimentation of official secret act. The Head of ICT, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Ifiok M. UdoUdo presented a paper on Securing your workspace in modern Civil Service environment.
