Commissioner For Agriculture Shuns House Committee As Ubong Attah Advocates Legislative Action

  In a clear case of disrespect and outright disregard to constituted authority, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Mrs Offiong Offor today, Wednesday refused to attend a parley with the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Agricultural and Natural Resources.  Expressing the displeasure of the Committee over the attitude of the Commissioner, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Ubong Attah noted that the meeting was meant to interface on the activities in the Central Abattoir and the distribution of farming inputs for the two planting seasons of 2024.  Hon. Political Inclusion, Effective Administration: AKHA Amends LG Law

  In a bid to ensure smooth running of Local Government Councils across the State and to bring harmony and political inclusion, the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has amended some sections of the Local Government Administration Law. Presenting a Bill for a law to amend some sections of the Law, the member representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung  informed the House that the amendment was predicated on the basis of creation of extra Wards by AKISIEC from 329 to 368. Rt. Hon. Idung who is the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs noted that the amendments which is for Sections 49 and 52 would create room for harmony, carry along all political wards and also bring peace to the administration of the Local Government system. Ime Okon Congratulates Itu, Ibiono Ibom Chairmen--Elect Over Lanslide Victory

  The Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Barr. Ime Okon, has congratulated the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship Candidates for Itu and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas, Messrs Ubong Nkutt and Asuakak Umoh, their deputies and councillors on their victory in yesterday's local government elections.  The duo were among the PDP local government standard bearers elected across the state. Local Government Election Peaceful, Transparent Says Speaker Otong..Commends AKISIEC

  The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly ( AKHA ) Rt. Hon. (Elder ) Udeme Otong, has described the Local Government Elections conducted by the Akwa Ibom State independent electoral Commission (AKISIEC) as transparent and peaceful. Speaker Otong while speaking with newsmen shortly after casting his vote at the Primary School, Abak itenge, Ward 5, unit 001 at about 11:09am, Elder  Otong noted the unbiased approach the electoral umpire conducted the election at his unit in particular, and Abak Local Government Area as a whole, and appreciated the electorate for turning enmase   to exercise their civic rights.
