The Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Barr. Ime Okon, has congratulated the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship Candidates for Itu and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas, Messrs Ubong Nkutt and Asuakak Umoh, their deputies and councillors on their victory in yesterday's local government elections.
The duo were among the PDP local government standard bearers elected across the state.
In a press statement, Okon said he was not surprised at their win given their quality, capacity, acceptability and popularity.
He pointed out that the PDP's total win confirmed the party's strength on ground in the two local government areas constituting his constituency.
Okon stressed that the Governor's remarkable performance in office, so far, was another major contributory factor to the PDP's victory.
The federal lawmaker, himself a former Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Transition Committee, urged Nkutt and Umoh to be magnanimous in victory by embracing their opponents and being fair to all, irrespective of political leaning, on assumption of office.
He charged the duo to sustain the confidence reposed in them by the electorate by delivering on their campaign promises.
On his part, Okon promised to partner with the federal, state and local governments to attract development to his constituency.
