Local Government Election Peaceful, Transparent Says Speaker Otong..Commends AKISIEC

 


The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly ( AKHA ) Rt. Hon. (Elder ) Udeme Otong, has described the Local Government Elections conducted by the Akwa Ibom State independent electoral Commission (AKISIEC) as transparent and peaceful.

Speaker Otong while speaking with newsmen shortly after casting his vote at the Primary School, Abak itenge, Ward 5, unit 001 at about 11:09am, Elder  Otong noted the unbiased approach the electoral umpire conducted the election at his unit in particular, and Abak Local Government Area as a whole, and appreciated the electorate for turning enmase   to exercise their civic rights.

He attributed the large turnout of Electorate at his Abak Itenge polling Unit to the positive impact of Governor Umo Eno's administration, especially in the areas of road infrastructure and human capacity building.

Speaker Otong, expressed optimism that the outcome of the election would reflect the wishes of the people.

Also reacting, Wife of the Speaker, Deaconess Margaret Udeme Otong who also cast her vote at the unit, hailed the peaceful conduct of the polls in the area.

Voters at the unit including, a cleric, Bishop Abasiakan Otong; Israel Emmanuel; Madam Iquo Friday Jonah; OduduAbasi Akpan and a party agent, Israel Emmanuel equally expressed confidence in the electoral process.

Akwa Ibom Thrown Into Mourning As Gov Umo Eno Loses Wife To Death

  Akwa Ibom State has been thrown into deep mourning and grief as the wife of the State governor has passed away.
