AKSEPWMA BOSS SHOWERS CASH GIFT ON WINNERS OF ESSAY COMPETITION ...Lauds Gov. Eno's Environmental Sustainability

 




In furtherance of the environmental sustainability goals of the ARISE Agenda of Pastor Umo Eno, the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, Obong (Dr.) Prince Ikim, has presented cash prizes to the winners of the Agency's Essay Competition.  






At a press conference on Tuesday, held at the Agency's office complex on New Park Road, Itam, the Agency's Chairman announced Ememobong Sunday Udofia, a SS3 student from Word of Faith International School, as the overall winner, receiving a cash award of N300,000; Emaediong Christopher Umo, a JS3 student from Topfaith Legacy College, Ikot Ekpene, secured second place with a cash prize of N250,000.  


Ndifreke Patrick Akpan, a SS2 student from St. Paul Comprehensive Secondary School, came third, winning N100,000, while Goodluck Luke Udoka of Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, and Favour Iniobong Sunday, a JS2 student from Topfaith Legacy College, Ikot Ekpene, came in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with consolation prizes.  


In addition to the cash prize, the overall winner will serve as Chairman of the Agency for 24 hours during the next sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, 22nd February 2025.  


Ikim outlined the criteria for the essay competition, which focused on "the role of citizens in effective waste management,"  to include content, originality, style, organisation, and structure, and stated that a total of 2,175 entries were received.  


The Chairman of the Agency, Obong Ikim, praised the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, saying, "I thank the Governor for his environmental sustainability policy; this essay competition was organised to improve knowledge, attitudes, and practices."  


In her response, the overall winner, Ememobong Sunday Udofia, expressed her gratitude to the Chairman of the Agency for organising the competition, adding that she "counts it as a rare privilege to start the work of life."  


The press conference was attended by the board members of the Agency, including Sir Charles Ememobong, Hon. Victor Henry, Engr. Anietie Elijah, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comr. Amos Etuk, Chancellor of the Conference of Online Publishers (COOPA) Utitofon Morgan, and heads of media organisations.
