Otobong Bob Brings Succour To Nsit Ubium As 70 Surgeries Done, 930 Ailments Treated, 230 Eyeglasses Given

In a show of empathy and milk of human kindness, the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob has given Succour to his constituents through a medical outreach where no fewer than 70 successful surgeries(adults and children) have been done and 930 residents with different ailments have been treated.

The event which is held at the Primary Healthcare Center, Ikot Edibon, Nsit Ubium has been running for three days to end today Saturday also had over 280 persons receiving prescription eyeglasses.












Making remarks at the event, the sponsor, Rt. Hon. Bob stated that his desire was to provide a lasting gift to the lives of his constituents beyond the regular celebrations of Valentine’s Day.

“I wanted to give my people a gift that truly matters which is good health. This is why we ensured that beyond this outreach, many of them are now covered for a lifetime under the ARISE health insurance scheme".

The Lawmaker used the occasion to thank the State Governor , Pastor Governor Umo Eno for making it seamless for lawmakers to positively empower and impact their constituencies while also commending the medical team for their dedication and prayed for the speedy recovery of all beneficiaries.

To further address future health challenges in the area, no fewer than 1,500 residents have so far been registered for lifetime medical coverage under the ARISE Health Insurance Scheme of the state government.

On his part, a medical consultant and team lead of the outreach, Dr. James Etiemana applauded Hon. Bob's initiative, noting that the medical intervention has so far addressed serious health conditions that could have remained untreated due to financial constraints.

He gave assurances that the team of experts were carefully selected for the outreach which has so far treated 930 patients, carried out 70 successful surgeries and also registered 1500 on the ARISE insurance Scheme of the state government. 

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem, commended Ry. Hon. Otobong Bob for affecting his constituents positively . “He is an asset to the 8th Assembly. He sleeps and wakes up thinking about the welfare of his people".

In a goodwill message, the political leader of Uyo Senatorial district who is also the father of the sponsor, Senator Effiong Dickson Bob emphasized the significance of the intervention stating that illnesses and not witches, has killed many in rural communities.

He tasked leaders to not only focus on distributing motorcycles and cars while neglecting healthcare, adding that the illnesses that required surgeries as he has seen was outbreaking and commended thr sponsor for taking up the outreach.
