EKET, AKWA IBOM — The Eket Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind the aspiration of Dr. Eunice Thomas to represent Eket Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections, in what observers see as an early consolidation of political support within the party.
The endorsement was declared on Monday, May 4, 2026, when the frontline aspirant paid a consultative visit to party stakeholders at the Eket Local Government Chairman’s Lodge.
Speaking during the meeting, the APC Chapter Chairman in Eket, Hon. Inyang Ebuk, said the decision to support Dr. Thomas followed a collective assessment of her competence, leadership capacity, and perceived ability to unify the constituency.
According to him, the party is confident that her emergence would strengthen cohesion across Eket Federal Constituency while delivering effective representation at the national level.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Chapter Chairmen, Victor Imaikop, commended the aspirant’s vision and engagement style, noting that her message had resonated widely within the party structure.
“We have listened to her, and there is clarity in her direction. That is the direction we will follow. I am confident Eket will deliver her,” he stated.
On his part, the Chief of Staff to the Eket Local Government Chairman, Akwa Ekong Idim, underscored the importance of unity within the constituency, describing it as a critical need at this time. He expressed confidence in Dr. Thomas’ ability to foster such unity.
Earlier, Dr. Thomas told party leaders and supporters that her aspiration is rooted in inclusiveness, purposeful representation, and a renewed relationship with the people.
Highlighting her ties to the constituency, she reaffirmed her commitment to service and pledged to prioritise people-oriented and economically viable projects.
“My duty is to go to Abuja and represent your interests. I will focus on initiatives that directly impact lives, not just routine projects,” she said.
She further described her ambition as a call to service, assuring stakeholders of her preparedness and determination to deliver on the mandate if given the opportunity.
In a goodwill message, her husband, Engr. Samuel Thomas Ekpenyong, urged party stakeholders to unite behind her candidacy, expressing confidence in her ability to meet public expectations and promote cohesion across the constituency.
The meeting is widely seen as part of early political consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, with the APC in Eket positioning for a potentially competitive race for the federal seat.
