ORON FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY STAKEHOLDERS ENDORSE GOVERNOR UMO ENO, SENATOR EKONG SAMPSON, REP MARTINS ESIN, OTHERS, AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS…Pass Vote of Confidence on Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi_

Prominent leaders, critical stakeholders, party officials and indigenes of Oron Federal Constituency on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, unanimously endorsed a slate of consensus candidates for the 2027 general elections during an enlarged strategic meeting at the Oron Civic Centre.
The stakeholders endorsed the following ahead of 2027 general elections: Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Ekong Sampson, Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Rep. Martins Esin, Member representing Oron Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,
Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, Senate President
They also adopted all State House of Assembly consensus aspirants from the federal constituency.
A former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and former Member for Oron Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Peter Linus Umoh, moved the first motion endorsing Senator Ekong Sampson, Rep. Martins Esin, Rt. Hon. (Mrs) Precious Selong, Rt. Hon. (Mrs) Kenim Onofiok, and Hon. Bassey Pius Bassey for a second term.
The motion also endorsed Engr. Okon Bassey for a fresh term as Member representing Mbo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. It was seconded by former Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Effiong Bassey and adopted unanimously.
In a second motion, Rep Martins Esin, seconded by former Chief Whip and Special Adviser to the Governor on Cooperatives and Rural Development, Rt. Hon. (Mrs) Alice Ekpenyong, moved for the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for a second term. The motion was supported through a resounding voice vote.
The stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, and appreciated Governor Umo Eno for choosing her again as his running mate for 2027.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Eyakenyi thanked stakeholders for their support for Governor Umo Eno’s administration, the APC, and its candidates. She assured that more dividends of democracy would be delivered as a reward for their loyalty and steadfast support.
She praised the governor’s developmental strides in Oron Federal Constituency, describing him as God’s gift to the constituency and the state.
On the APC primaries, the deputy governor urged party faithful to uphold unity, loyalty, and commitment. She expressed optimism that the party would emerge from the process stronger and more united to win the 2027 general elections.
Responses and Remarks
Speaking on behalf of the endorsed aspirants, Senator Ekong Sampson, Rep Martins Esin*, and Hon. Kenim Onofiok thanked the stakeholders and pledged to do better in their second term.
Rt. Hon. Sir Victor Antai,, Executive Director, Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), commended the deputy governor for providing purposeful leadership in the federal constituency and pledged his total support for her, the party leadership, and the stakeholders’ decisions.
Chairman of the occasion and Chairman of the Akpakip Oro Elders’ Advisory Council, *Ikpoto Okon Osung*, stressed the need for loyalty and unity within the APC. He advised against desperation for elective offices and noted that the benefits of loyalty would eventually accrue to patient party faithful.
Other stakeholders who spoke included former SSG Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, former Deputy Speaker *Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey*, Urue Offong/Oruko LGA Chairman, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno, federal Commissioner NPC Engr. Ben Ukpong, Delivery Advisor to the Governor Hon. Orman Esin, APC Assistant State Legal Adviser *Barr. Its Okpoyo*, and former AKSU Governing Council member, Mrs Glory Effiong.
They restated their commitment to the process of selecting the party’s flag-bearers and pledged unflinching support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Pastor Umo Eno, Senator Ekong Sampson, Rep. Martins Esin, and all APC candidates.
