Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District Youth Leaders Adopt Senator Ekong Sampson, Gov. Umo Eno, President Tinubu As Sole Candidates For 2027 General Elections... Cites ranking, performance, human empowerment, infrastructure as basis for endorsement of Senator Sampson

In a strong show of political solidarity, youth leaders drawn from various youth strata of the three Federal Constituencies of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District have unanimously adopted Senator Ekong Sampson, Governor Umo Eno, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.


The endorsement was made during a well-attended meeting of the Akwa Ibom South  Senatorial District Youth Leaders’ Forum held in Octagon  Event Centre,  Eket,on Sunday , May 3, 2026, where speakers highlighted legislative performance, infrastructure delivery, and human capital development as key reasons for their decision of adopting Senator Ekong Sampson as their sole Candidate.


Setting the tone for the meeting, Mr Joe Mbong, Coordinator,  Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District Forum, scored Senator Ekong Sampson high on legislative milestones, quality representation, and infrastructural developments.  



Barely three years in the Senate, Senator Sampson has presented more than 100 Million Naira to Students, distributed vehicles, facilitated employment to about fifty five ( 55) Constituents and distributed life- touching projects across the 12 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom South.







He is generally seen as a detribalised Nigerian and well suited for the diversity in Akwa Ibom South.


Mbong emphasized the strategic gains of having a ranking legislator in the 10th National Assembly, noting that ranking opens doors in the Senate — from committee chairmanship to budgetary leverage. He added that Senator Ekong Ekong Sampson’s rich experience in Legislative business was already yielding positive results, emphasizing that  a second term  mandate will consolidate those gains for Eket Senatorial District.


Speaking on behalf of Oron Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Magnus Archibong,  former Vice Chairman of Oron Local Government Area  and Comrade Asukwo Effiong Bassey,  popularly known as Don Mike, commended Senator Sampson for effective representation, human empowerment, and spreading of  quality dividends of democracy across the three Federal Constituencies.

The duo specifically cited employment of constituents  into federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), purchase and distribution of quality cars to supporters and stakeholders,

equitable spread of projects  across Oron, Ikot Abasi, and Eket Federal Constituencies.  

They promised On behalf of the  youth of Oron Federal Constituency to mobilise massively for the re-election of Senator Ekong Sampson. 


Speaking separately On behalf of  Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, Hon. Ekpeno Edward Udosen and Hon. Elizabeth Williams said the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency are satisfied with the Senator’s impactful and result-oriented representation and robust legislative engagements in the Red Chamber.


They reiterated the readiness of the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency to return Senator Ekong Sampson to the National Assembly for more democratic dividends. 


In their separate remarks, Obongiwad Etienne Bob, Comrade Emmanuel Atting, Hon. Michael Uye, and ObongIwad (Barr).Godwin William were unanimous in scoring Senator Sampson high for his outstanding performance in the tripartite mandate of lawmaking, oversight, and representation. 


The youth leaders stressed the need for Akwa Ibom South( Eket ) Senatorial District to retain a ranking legislator, arguing that continuity would translate to increased federal presence, stronger voice in appropriation, and more projects for the Senatorial District.


A  formal motion for the endorsement and adoption of Senator Ekong Sampson, Governor Umo Eno, and President Bola Tinubu for the second term was moved by Hon  Idongesit Ufia of Eket Federal Constituency.  


It was duly seconded by  Comrade (Elder) Umoetuk Umoetuk  of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, after which it received unanimous voice approval from youth leadership structures  drawn from the 12 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District.


Responding on behalf of Distinguished Senator Ekong Sampson, PhD, Hon.  Prince Aniekpon Ekpo,  former Executive Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area  and representative of the  Senator at the event, thanked the youth structure for their unity of purpose, ingenuity, and foresight in adopting the trio of Senator Ekong Sampson PhD, Governor Umo Eno, PhD and President Bola Tinubu,GCFR,  as sole candidates for the  2027 general elections. 


Aniekpon Ekpo listed Senator Sampson’s achievements to include Massive employment facilitation for constituents in federal MDAs, quality infrastructure delivery in electricity and road projects across the Senatorial district, Prioritization of healthcare services and education grant, Scholarship and support for Students, 

Strong advocacy on the floor of the Senate, including consistent calls for the upgrading of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron to a full-fledged  Maritime university; Push for the reactivation of the moribund ALSCON  in Ikot Abasi, advocacy for improved funding for the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi as well as sponsorship of a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Eket Local Government Area.


According to Hon. Aniekpon Ekpo, Senator Ekong Sampson stands tall in legislative engagements. His second term will promote ranking and guarantee increased dividends of democracy for Eket Senatorial District.


The meeting ended with a resolution to inaugurate  local government by local government and ward-to-ward mobilisation structures across the 12 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom South( Eket) Senatorial District to drive the 2027 re-election project.


Recalled that on December 30, 2026,at Villa Marina, Eket, Stakeholders and Elders of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in a meeting presided by former Federal Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Chief Nduese Essien had unanimously endorsed Senator Ekong Sampson for a Second term in the Nigerian Senate.


In a related development, as a mark of solidarity and appreciation of his huge investment in the education of his Constituents, various Student groups in Akwa Ibom South unanimously adopted Senator Ekong Sampson as their sole Candidates for the 2027  National Assembly elections.

AKIRS secures N1.2b judgement against Ardent Energy Services LTD ....warns against tax evasion

  The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has secured a landmark judgement against Ardent Energy Services Ltd, an oil servicing company operating in Akwa Ibom State. In a judgement delivered on July 3, 2025 at the Revenue Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, by the Presiding Revenue Judge, Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, the court ordered the defendant to pay to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the sum of N1.2bilion, including penalty and interest on the principal sum.  The judgement was in consequence to Suit No. Rue/77C/2022, filed by AKIRS. With this judgement, which is a major milestone in AKIRS tax compliance drive, the agency warns taxpayers to willingly comply to their civic obligations of always paying their taxes as and when due as there was no hiding place for defaulters.
