Ahead of the upcoming cerebration of the International Albinism Awareness Day to be held globally on June 13, 2022, the Akwa Ibom State Government  says it has disassociated itself from Jake Epelle's  event and bars him and his National body from hosting the cerebration in the State because of potential negative implications necessitated by series of petitions from Stakeholders and Members of the Organisation. Hon. Aniekan Bassey has emerged as the  Flag Bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party for Uyo Senatorial District after polling a total of 272 votes at the Primaries held today, Monday at Ibom Hall, Uyo. Other Contenders in the race included a former two-term lawmaker who represented Uruan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Usenobong who scored one vote and a former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uwemq Ita Etuk who scored 13 votes.  Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other external observers, were on hand to witness the process which was adjudged peaceful.
