Bassey Dan Abia (Jnr) Ors Dumps APC, Return To PDP

The camp of the opposition, APC in Akwa Ibom State suffered yet  another
set back with the defection of prominent chieftains of the party from the broom party to the PDP. The latest being, the defection of an APC Chieftain in Esit-Eket local Government Area, Barr. Bassey Dan Abia (Jnr) from the opposition, APC to the PDP.

Barr. Dan Abia, a former House of Representatives Member for Eket Federal Constituency, is a brother to a former NDDC Managing Director, and Governorship aspirant in the APC, Barr. Bassey Dan Abia(Snr). He defected alongside other supporters of the APC, inckyding, Engr. Emem Edoho and many others.
Addressing the mammoth crowd at the PDP campaign rally at Esit-Eket Stadium, Uquo, Esit-Eket, the APC Chieftain flanked by other defectors said he decided to return to the PDP after his political sojourn in the broom party having realized that the APC has nothing to offer people. He described the Peoples Democratic Party as a religion in Esit-Eket and  Akwa Ibom as a whole, foreclosing the chances of APC winning election in the state.

"PDP is a religion not only in Akwa Ibom, but here in Esit-Eket. We are back to the fold(PDP).
Iam happy to work for the victory of the PDP.
APC is an atomistic society perpetually at war with itself. Example abounds in Rivers State. We are sorry we made a mistake, we faltered and we have returned home. We will work for the success of our party".

"In view of the fact that the APC is only pretending and is really not visible in most parts of the country, I believe I am not too big to say I am sorry, I made a mistake, I am coming back home to work for the overall success of our great party, the PDP in all the elections."

Dan Abia lauded Governor Emmanuel for his development drive in the state in the past three and a half years, saying he and others were back in the party to contribute to the success of the PDP at the forthcoming election.

Another former APC Chieftain who declared support for the PDP at the rally include, Senator Etang Umoyo.

The resolution followed the consideration of a Motion on Notice sponsored by the Member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, Hon. Udobia Friday Udo, during plenary. Leading debate on the motion, Hon. According to him, what was once intended as a celebration of academic accomplishment has, in recent years, become synonymous with indecent dressin...
