Aniekan Uko Task Oku Ibom, Itai Afe Annang, Ahta Oro On Akwa Ibom Unity

The member Representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Aniekan Uko has tasked Royal Father's especially Oku Ibom Ibibio, Itai Afe Annang, Ahta Oro to join forces to galvanize unity in the State

Elder Uko, a former Speaker of the Assembly while responding to questions thrown at him from the anchor of Akwa Ibom Mandate, a program on Planet 101.1FM on the need for the legislature to intervene in the feud between Governor Udom Emmanuel and his predecessor Godswill Akpabio, the lawmaker opined  that the Royal Fathers who are held in very high esteem could parley with the duo with the sole aim of bringing a lasting solution for peaceful coexistence to reign.
Hear him, "I don't think that is the job of the legislature. Ours is to make laws. This signal should be sent to the Oku Ibom Ibibio, the Itai Afe Annang, the Ahta of Oro. These are the people that can call their sons to make peace".

On the recent uproar making the rounds that the State Governor included budget for Office of Chief of Staff even when no one has been appointed, Elder Uko stated categorically that the Governor he knows can't take funds from any subhead not budgeted for adding that it is not out of place to state that the Governor has intentions to appoint a Chief of Staff reason it's included in the budget estimates.

Popularly referred to as Iboroakam, Elder Uko who is the Chairman House Committee on Special Projects and Aviation stated categorically that the House of Assembly does not need to be in fit cuff with the Executive as monies spent are duely appropriated for hence no need for war.

The vocal lawmaker stated that the House rather than wage war with the Executive deploys "cooperation of powers" to synergies with the State governor to bring the much needed development that will be felt by citizens.

While shedding light on the ongoing construction of the International Worship Centre, he asserted that governance has to do with budgeting and therefore even if monies were to be contributed by individuals or Bodies towards the project, such funds would not be paid to the governor but to government coffers and no withdrawal can be made without such being appropriated for.

Elder Uko used the occasion to  commend the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for ensuring continuity in governance where uncompleted projects from previous governments are not left out of government priority while also scoring the governor high on the industrialization agenda.

He described the strides of the governor in the Aviation sector with the advent of Ibom Air as a good step in the right direction adding that the Airline with the present comfort and excellent services provided by managers would in no distance time take over the region even as the fleet would increase.

The Ibesikpo Asutan mouth piece while describing leadership as being all about sacrifice for development and not only for financial gratification said that his committee while on oversight to the Four Point by Sheraton currently managed by Marriott was impressed by the level of work done in anticipation of its opening December this year as was informed by the Managers.
