Legislature Lifeline Of Udom's Completion Agenda - Aniekan Uko


The legislature has been described as the backbone of Akwa Ibom State Governor's Completion Agenda as all captured in the Budget.

This was the position of Elder Anikan Uko the Member Representing Ibesikpo Asutan in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly recently while leading the House Committee on Special Projects on oversight visits to inspect level of work done on some projects.

At the Four Point by Sheraton Hotel, Elder Uko while stressing that oversight was paramount to ensure that government spends monies judiciously commended the Commissioner for Special Duties and Aviation Development, Rt. Hon. Okpolupum Etteh seeing that contractors handling the project adhere to contractual terms adding that the hotel will aid in bringing in tourist to the area who will also harness the vast potentials of tourism.

He tasked Mariot, managers of the hotel to carry indigenes of the State along when floating employment to fill positions in the hotel

At the second runway presently constructed by Gitto, Elder Uko tasked the firm to show seriousness as the legislature would not take stories or delay of the project.

At the 21 storey office complex handled by VKS, the Committee Chairman commended the contractors while also passing a vote of confidence on the Commissioner for his superb supervisory role. He also used the occasion to commend the State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for consistently keeping to his promises.

The Committee who was taken around the three project sites by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Aviation Development, Mr. Okpolupm Etteh commended the Legislature for appropriating funds for the project and the State Governor for all the support, assuring that the projects which will stand the taste of time will be completed withing stipulated period.
With the Commissioner was the Head of Project Implementation Engr. Ephraim Udosen, Head of Aviation, Mrs. Winifred Inyang among others.

Improved Working Conditions For Teachers In Rural Areas Underway As AKHA Advocates Provision Of Live-In Quarters

Secondary school teachers posted to rural areas in the State would have a sigh of relief as lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has advocated to the State Government for the provision of live-in quarters to reduce the burden of transportation and solve issues of accomodation.  This was sequel to a report presented to the House by the Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon. Kenim Onofiok during Plenary today. Hon. Onofiok informed the House that the Committee had invited stakeholders from the Ministry including Commissioner for Education, Chairmen, State Secondary Education Board, Permanent Secretaries to discuss on the matter. The House thereafter dissolved into the Committee of the Whole where the two recommendations of the report were adopted.
