ANIEKAN BASSEY EMERGES THE POLITICAL LEADER OF URUAN

 




The political class, ward leaders and key stakeholders of Uruan Local Government Area have chosen the Senator-Elect for Uyo Senatorial District seat, Rt. Hon Aniekan Bassey, as the new Political Leader of the area. 


This was on the heels of a motion moved by Pst Favour Okokon Ekpenyong and seconded by Mr. Emmanuel Atakpo during a celebration visit to the Senator-Elect on Monday at his Osongoma residence, Uyo.


According to the mover of the motion, Pst Ekpenyong, "being the highest political office holder in Uruan Local Government Area, Ward Leaders and all stakeholders deemed it fit to appoint the Senator-Elect, Rt. Hon Aniekan Bassey, as our Political Leader." 


The new Political Leader, who is also the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, is deputized by Engr JB Effiong, who is also the Zonal Leader of Central Uruan.


The stakeholders spoke in appreciation of the personality of the Speaker and his victory at the polls, noting that "it is unprecedented for an Uruan son to emerge the Senator in the history of the State." 


They urged the Speaker to remain the true son of Uruan as he has always been and make them more proud when he gets to the National Assembly.


Among the stakeholders at the event were the Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Hon. Iniobong Ekpenyong; his  vice chairman; Evang Uduak Udoenang; a former Chairman of Council, Dr. Eventus Edem; The Chapter Chairman of Uruan, Hon Sebastian Nkanga; the Dean of Ward Leaders, Chief Bassey Tom; the Leader of Uruan Legislative Council, Hon Sunday Bassey; Ward Leaders and other stakeholders.
