I AM NOT A 'RUNNING MATE' TO MICHAEL ENYONG - PRINCESS FELICIA BASSEY

The quality attention of Rt.Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey, Deputy Speaker and Member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has been drawn to a misleading, fabricated  and jaundiced media report, sponsored by some idle mischief- makers  and desperate opposition Members, published in some Social Media Platforms, with a screaming headline: INEC REPLACES UMO ENO AND AKON EYAKENYI WITH MICHAEL ENYONG AND FELICIA BASSEY AS PDP GOVERNORSHIP & DEPUTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE.

Addressing some curious journalists who visited her Uyo residence on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 to make enquiry about the news of her alleged nomination as the PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate to Michael Enyong(Babatan), the deputy Speaker dismissed such fake news peddled and orchestrated by those with broken political  relevance.

She described the social media report on her as a joke of the political season which must be consigned to the dustbin of history.

" While such imagination by conspiracy theorist is vehemently and unequivocally refuted, I quickly wish to state, before the huge joke was taken too far by gullible sections of the masses,  that my Party(PDP) has not approached me to become a running mate to any Governorship Candidate.

I remain a strong and unwavering believer in the vision  of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, and a proud and loyal  supporter of His Excellency's Succession project  as a critical promoter of Pastor Umo Eno and Akon Eyakenyi as Governorship and Deputy Governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party for  the 2023 governorship election, having no doubts whatsoever in the imminent manifestation of that dream that represents the collective choice of Akwa Ibom people.

" That, after all, in the extant charter of the PDP as a law-,abiding party that promotes Democratic tenets,  choosing a running  mate has never been an individual decision but that of the party, after open deliberations and consensus.

I have never been a desperate politician. Everything I have ever become has been through the grace of God and dint of hardwork. I remain a true and loyal party Woman. The report therefore remains a facet of imagination of dubious authors who must be feasting on fantasies.

The PDP leadership at state and national levels, friends and supporters of the Deputy Speaker who of course never had cause in the past to doubt my  loyalty as well as the general public  are hereby urged to discard the said  social  Media fake report and rather continue to keep pace with Governor Udom Emmanuel as he seeks to concretize on the gains already enjoyed in the state through the Umo Eno Governorship  Project.

Signed

Office of the Deputy Speaker,

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
