Senate: Aniekan Bassey Pledges Effective Representation, Democratic Dividends




Senator Aniekan Bassey of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the people of Akwa Ibom North-East (Uyo) District will experience effective representation and more democratic dividends from him.


The Senator made this known on Tuesday during a reception ceremony organized to celebrate his proclamation as a Senator to the 10th National Assembly at the Brook Gardens and Event Centre, Abuja.


 He commended members of his family, friends, stakeholders and supporters for their love and solidarity, saying “I pledge not to let you down. I promise the people of Uyo Senatorial District effective representation and real democratic dividends. I will not relent in my efforts to ensure the desired positive changes are fulfilled.”


Senator Bassey also promised to work in unison with the Pastor Umo Eno-led administration to bring meaningful development to Uyo Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State at large.


He further promised to engage youths of the district to equip themselves with alternatives in the form of skills and vocations that will make them to be hardworking, self-sufficient and self-sustainable.


The Senator used the opportunity to give special congratulations to the President of the 10th Senate, Dr Godswill Akpabio, saying “As you lead the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, may the grace of God rest abundantly upon you and make easy the enormous responsibilities before you.”


While expressing his gratitude to the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Senator Bassey said “My political climb has been the amazing grace of God wrapped with the indelible and unwavering support of the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel. I am deeply indebted knowing that the whole journey started with you all the way from my first rung as an Honourable Member to being the Deputy Leader of the House, to being the Speaker of the 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and to being the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”


He also expressed appreciation to Pastor Umo Eno, saying “I want to really appreciate and thank the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for furthering the Akwa Ibom Project. It truly demonstrates real leadership and peerless commitment to the progress of Akwa Ibom. As the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I will stand by you and uphold this same commitment. I sincerely thank you for your support and the opportunity to start another political phase with you. Indeed, it will be an amazing journey with you.”
