As the women of Nsit Atai Local Government Area converged for the ongoing Women Sensitization Tour on Civic Responsibilities, the member representing Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency, Rep Mark Esset has assured Pastor Umo Eno, PhD that the entire Nsit Atai Women are in total support of his administration.
Esset made the assurance today, at the Women Sensitization Tour On Civic Responsibilities, hosted at Otuekong Raphael Bassey Unity Hall, Odot, Nsit Atai Local Government Headquarters.
With the Theme: "Women Arise", the sensitization programme is part of a statewide initiative aimed at encouraging women to embrace their civic responsibilities through electronic voter registration, acquisition of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and active participation in governance ahead of future elections.
Addressing the gathering, Rep Mark Esset commended the State Government delegation ably led by the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi for taking the sensitization programme to Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
The Federal Rep member assured the delegation of the commitment of Nsit Atai women in supporting the administration of Pastor Umo Bassey Eno PhD.
"Your Excellency, the women of Nsit Atai are well schooled in the rudiments of politics. The have a record of involving actively in previous elections. In 2027 elections, the women will be more active. I want to assure you that Nsit Atai Women Are 100% in Support of Gov Umo Eno".
Esset lauded the wife of the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai LGA, Mrs. Emem Anthony Nyong for her efforts in galvanizing the women of Nsit Atai and also sustaining the prayer summit legacy of his wife, Dr. Dorcas Esset.
He further reaffirmed the total support of the entire electorates of Nsit Atai to the President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR; Governor Umo Eno PhD; Senator Aniekan Bassey PhD; himself and Prince Prince-aniefiok Attah for their re-election in 2027.
The delegation comprised eminent government leaders and gender advocates, including the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi PhD ; the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Noble Lady Helen Obareki; the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Iniobong Silas Etukudo; wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Inemesit Uwah and others.
Addressing the women, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, called on them to take the electronic registration exercise seriously, describing women as critical drivers of political stability and socio-economic growth.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Umo Eno, she reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to women inclusion, empowerment and welfare while noting that, full participation in the electoral process would strengthen women’s voices in governance and enable them to benefit maximally from government empowerment programmes, urging them to remain united and supportive of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Noble Lady Helen Obareki, conveyed the governor’s appreciation for the enthusiasm and solidarity consistently demonstrated by the women.
She encouraged women of Nsit Atai to sustain their support and translate it into meaningful civic and political engagement, noting that the present administration places high premium on the wellbeing of women and families.
The Women Sensitization Tour in Nsit Atai LGA did not only reinforced the critical role of women in democratic governance but also demonstrated the council’s commitment to inclusive, participatory, and transformative leadership aligned with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno.
