The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting at the Apo, Abuja Judicial Division today, Friday struck out a post-election matter instituted by Senator Godswill Akpabio, following his defeat by former Deputy Governor, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong, in the just- concluded National Assembly election for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District. Akpabio, former Senate Minority leader, defected last August from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC) under which he sought reelection ticket. But he was defeated by Ekpenyong, who polled over 118,000 votes as against his over 83,000 forcing the former governor to run to Abuja court with suit no: FCT\HC\M\2680\19, to seek an order of Mandamus compelling INEC to review the result. But the presiding Judge, Justice Valentine Ashi of the FCT High Court dismissed the matter, following application by the Counsel to Akpabio, Mr. Sunday Ameh (SAN), that the case be withdrawn forthwith....

The woes of the All Progressives Congress(APC) have continued to mount even as the Party in the State has continued to lose its strategic members to the Peoples Democratic Party. This follows the defection of its key men back to the PDP. Leading the pack of defectors include Obong Dan Akpan -APC House of Representatives Candidate, Etinan Federal Constituency,  Hon Saviour Udo -Chieftain and former member, House of Representatives, Dr Etido Ibekwe -Chieftain and Former House of Assembly member, Essien Udim, Hon Efefiong Antigha -Chieftain and former member of the House of Assembly. Others include Arc Essien Nkanga -Chieftain and former LG Chairman, Elder Ime Umoh, Hon George Uya, Obonganwan Arit Udonwa -Woman Leader, 24 Current APC Chapter Youth Leaders, Apostle Ikon John, Zonal Chairman, APC and 40 others, Former APC Youth Caucus members led by Joshua Basil Nya aka Joe Pastor and group Heads for Obong Nsima Ekere led by Hon Prince Michael Isonguyo and Mrs Idorenyin Effiong Ekpo....

Over a hundred hired political thugs brought in from outside Akwa Ibom State have been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police, Ikot Ekpene Area Command. It could not be accertained as at Press Time who hired them even as they claimed to have come in from Edo State. The thugs have however been moved this evening from Ikot Ekpene to Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia. More details later....

Last month overwhelming consequence of the Presidential and National Assembly elections where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom recorded landslide victory  continues to have a sweeping effect across the State.    The latest is the collapsing of strategic party structures by the Stakeholders of APC in Okobo Local Government Area, in favour of the candidate of the PDP and incumbent Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey, who is seeking a second term to represent the Okobo State Constituency. Leading the returnees in their numbers on a solidarity march to PDP leadership in Okobo yesterday, a Chieftain of the APC in Okobo and immediate past Member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly,  Okobo State Constituency, Hon. Chief Efefiong Antigha disclosed that they unanimously took the decision because of the cohesion,  systematic  organization and integration in the PDP as well...

The Vice President Of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo arrived Akwa Ibom State today at about 5.45pm at the Victor Attach Int'l Airport. He is billed to address a Town Hall Meeting. The State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel was on hand to receive him.

Baring any last minute changes, the former Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio has been penciled down by the Presidency as one of those eminent Nigerians to be nominated as Ambassadors. This sharp move it was learnt from impeccable Villa Sources was aimed at consoling the former Senate Minority Leader who lost at last weeks Senatorial election. Our Aso Rock sources claimed that the Presidency is very interested in retaining Akpabio in its Party fold and therefore not wanting to lose him back to his former Party the PDP, and therefore would dangle an Ambassadorial position to him as offer to assuage his loss at the polls, adding that the office of Chief Of Staff to the President was also being considered.
