Mother Of Renowned Media Consultant, Elder Statesman For Burial, March 22



The programme for the funeral Service  of a seasoned  entrepreneur, Deaconess (Mrs) Ikwo Okon Okpo, mother of an Ace  journalist cum Consultant in Akwa Ibom State, Elder Edet Okpo, has been made public.

 A statement jointly  issued by the Media guru and CEO of De Searchlight Services, Edet Okpo and his Elder brother, Chief Jerry Okpo, an Elder Statesman and political Pathfinder in Oro Nation and beyond, has it that the burial obsequies has officially been  scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2019.

Further details on the programme indicated that the funeral, which will be  officiated by the Oron Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church,  Apostle E.O.Uye and conducted by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Otieke Offi  Area, Okobo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, shall be held at the Methodist Primary School, Offi Atak Oro,(By Uruting Junction) Okobo Local Government Area, by 10am prompt.

Available record shows that Deaconess Ikwo Okon Okpo passed on in the early hours of Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the age of 76, after making profound parting statements, encouraging her children to keep on serving God in truth and spirit until they meet again in the New World. 

Elder Okpo who described her late mother as a strong source of inspiration and pillar of support in his life endeavors, a devout Christian, dedicated mother, a community leader and philanthropist of high repute, said her late mother will be greatly missed by the entire family, the community and those who came in contact with her while alive.

 The release therefore  invited the State Governor, His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and Wife, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel, Speaker, Rt. Hon (Barr) Onofiok Luke, Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Princess Felicia Bassey, Deputy House Leader, Rt. Hon Imeh Okon, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, Members of the State Executive Council, the Clerk, Mrs Mandu Umoren and  other members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to the funeral service.

Also invited are Chairmen of Local Government Councils,  Maritime Academy Community, other Government Functionaries, Okobo
Stakeholders, Ministers of the gospel, Oro Nation Forum of Professional, Trinity Group, Atak Oro Supreme Council, Oro Journalists Forum - OJOFOR, Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, The Apostolic Church Nigeria, the good people of Okobo LGA, leaders and Members of various socio-political groups, Special friends of the family, in-laws and all well wishers and sympathizers to join them in bidding farewell to their departed mother.

Late Deaconess Ikwo Okon Okpo left behind seven Children, 14 grand Children, a great grand Child, Two Brothers, a Sister and a host of other relatives to mourn her demise.

 Meanwhile, the State Secretary of NUJ, Comrade Amos Etuk has called on Members of the Union in Akwa Ibom State who are attending the funeral service of their colleague's mother to pick up their uniforms at the press centre, NUJ Secretariat, Information Drive, Off IBB Avenue, Uyo.
