APC Depletes In A'Ibom As Felicia Bassey Harvests Remnants In Okobo...Efefiong Antigha, Ors Return

Last month overwhelming consequence of the Presidential and National Assembly elections where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom recorded landslide victory  continues to have a sweeping effect across the State.

The latest is the collapsing of strategic party structures by the Stakeholders of APC in Okobo Local Government Area, in favour of the candidate of the PDP and incumbent Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey, who is seeking a second term to represent the Okobo State Constituency.

Leading the returnees in their numbers on a solidarity march to PDP leadership in Okobo yesterday, a Chieftain of the APC in Okobo and immediate past Member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly,  Okobo State Constituency, Hon. Chief Efefiong Antigha disclosed that they unanimously took the decision because of the cohesion,  systematic  organization and integration in the PDP as well as the clear writings  on the wall that APC in Akwa Ibom State and Okobo is dead and buried only to possibly be remembered as a discarded part of our political history.

Addressing PDP faithful at the Okobo PDP Chapter Office,  Nung Atai, Chief Antigha remarked "This is the best decision every member of the  party has to take. We do this because of the strict adherence to democratic principles in the PDP as clearly seen the unity of purpose, sincerity, organization and great future that awaits the party in the entire State. The resounding victory of PDP in last week's election were clear signals for the death of APC in the entire State".

Antigha further added, " We have now realized that we were deceived and misled by those who think only about themselves with no sense of equity, justice and organization in a party where mere humans take delight in playing god at the detriment of members and the masses. Okobo is PDP. Akwa Ibom is PDP. We must join hands to keep Governor  Udom Emmanuel  and Princess Felicia Bassey in office till 2023. Fairness and necessity demand just that".

Prior to this resolve to return to the PDP fold, Hon Efefiong Antigha, Elder Ime Umoh, retired Director of Finance, Deputy Governor's Office, Uyo, Mr. George Uyah other critical members of the APC were supporting Hon Edu Atta for House of Assembly seat and Mr. Nsima Ekere for  Governorship seat, but they recently realized they were sailing against the waves, hence their decision to join the winning PDP.

Welcoming them back to the big PDP umbrella, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey, thanked them for their courage in taking the wise step to save their political carrier and future.

"I commend you for the bold and wise decision you have made to join the winning party. Please be guaranteed of the traditional cohesion and brotherhood that PDP anywhere is the State is known for. However, you must as a matter of proof vote for Governor Udom Emmanuel and  myself  who are PDP candidates on Saturday  March9, 2019 Elections
In separate remarks, the PDP Chapter Chairman in Okobo, Hon. Maurice Fimba, Executive Chairman of Okobo, Hon . Ubuo Effiong Ubuo, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chief Peter Umoh, Rt. Hon. Chief Asukwo Odiong, Chief Jerry Okpo,Dr. Kubra Uya, Hon. Deacon Asuquo Koffi said they foresaw a day like this coming and encouraged the returnees never to be misled again. "If you leave PDP where else do you want to go? This is our religion in Akwa Ibom State and Governor Emmanuel's victory is guaranteed already through the support of the majority of Akwa Ibom people. You are all welcome", the Okobo Stakeholders stated.
In a related development, all Stakeholders in Okobo Project, including traditional rulers, Students body, youth and Women groups have reaffirmed their total support to  Governor Emmanuel and Princess Felicia Bassey, noting that Okobo has never compromised her Stand for PDP since the advent of democracy in Nigeria and  this Week Saturday's election will never be an exception.
The  visit of the deputy Speaker to Ikono Offi, Otieke and Afaha Osu group of Villages were a carnival of some sort as the Women and youths danced round the villages in anticipation of Victory in this week elections.
