By Asuquo Edem  UYO – The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has come out swinging against media reports suggesting it is probing immediate past governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, describing the claims as “baseless, speculative, and mischievous.” In a strongly worded statement issued yesterday, August 12, and signed by Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kufre-Abasi Edidem, the Assembly said at no time was any committee constituted to investigate the former governor, contrary to a report published in the Leadership Newspaper and echoed by other media outlets. “The publication is speculative, lacks a factual basis, and does not reflect any official position or resolution of the House,” Edidem declared. The Deputy Speaker clarified that the only recent committee activity was tied to complaints from workers of the state-owned St. Gabriel’s Coconut Oil Factory in Mkpat Enin, who alleged they had gone seven months without pay.
