Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, Senator Aniekan Bassey, has commended Governor Umo Eno for his unwavering commitment to the prosperity and progress of Akwa Ibom State, as demonstrated during the Public Presentation of the Socio-Economic Impact of the ARISE Agenda in Two Years, and the commissioning of landmark projects in Uruan Local Government Area.
The Senator, who represents the Akwa Ibom North-East in the Senate, made this known on Friday shortly after his return to the country from an official assignment abroad.
Senator Bassey described the event, where panelists critically assessed the implementation of the ARISE Agenda and offered forward-looking recommendations, as “a bold reaffirmation of Governor Eno’s data-driven and people-focused governance.”
He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Hon. Iniobong Ekpenyong, for successfully delivering several people-oriented projects commissioned by the Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong.
Senator Bassey lauded Ekpenyong for taking responsibility and demonstrating proactive leadership, especially in the area of security infrastructure, saying “What we witnessed in Uruan is a model of grassroots governance that supports the vision of Governor Umo Eno.”
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs further said the two events are clear indications that Akwa Ibom is on a firm path to sustainable development under the ARISE Agenda.
Among the commissioned projects were the reconstructed Police Station and 8-Unit Residential Flats in Adadia, and the foundation laying of the new Uruan LGA Council Administrative Block at Idu, as well as the handing over of three 300KVA power substations by the Chairman, among others.
