Exxon Mobil Partners Parliamentarian, Advocates Better Economic Polices For Nigeria




A Five-man management team from ExxonMobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited led by it's Executive Vice Chairman, Udom Inoyo on Wednesday visited the lawmaker representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Onofiok Luke in his office.
Mr Inoyo said the visit was to assure the Federal Lawmaker of the company's readiness to partner with him to unlock the massive potentials that  abound for the country in the petroleum industry.

He posited that the right policies must be in place to enable the industry succeed so as to improve the economic fortunes of the country adding that investment opportunities abound in the country despite numerous challenges. He however decried the high unemployment rate in the country as well as difficulties in establishing and sustaining investment.

Hon. Luke in his reaction, appreciated the EVC for the visit and commended ExxonMobil for the synergy with members of National Assembly from Akwa Ibom State. He appreciated efforts of the company at community developments, while also using the opportunity to appeal to the EVC to see to the return of the major logistics base of the company to QIT by ensuring the activation of their former jetty and also the return of their major Warehouse it once operated in the state. He said that those legacies are not what should be history as a functional QIT Jetty can drive the economy of the state. Hon. Luke sought for partnership with ExxonMobil on information and exchange of knowledge to enable lawmakers from the state to come out with legislative proposals that would benefit Akwa Ibom state and the country at large.
On the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill, the lawmaker  said that the successful passage of the bill into law is dear to his heart as that would open the space for local investors to participate as major actors in the industry to enhance inclusiveness in the local content provisions.

The Federal Lawmaker also reiterated his loyalty and allegiance in the National Assembly to Akwa Ibom people while stressing the need for even infrastructural development along with human capital development. He harped on the need to sensitize our people to take advantage of the opportunities that abound in the oil and gas sector, and assured of his commitment to cooperate with ExxonMobil to achieve human capital development to achieve it.

Mr Udom Inoyo, described Hon. Luke as very intelligent individual. He said " you have  resources, people respect you, people love and accept you. We know you will succeed . A lot of youths are looking  up to you". Mr Inoyo said that in his past years as a legislator, Hon. Luke has represented him well as a member of his constituency and expressed the confidence that he will record more giant strides even at the national level while assuring the Lawmaker that any time he needs information to guide his advocacy, the company will be ready to assist in that regard. Mr Inoyo admonishied Nigerians to have the right mindset to unlock the opportunities that are enormous in the country to succeed.

Accompanying the Executive Vice Chairman on the courtesy call were the General Manager Human Resources,  Mr Bala Aliyu, the Senior Manager Security External Relations,  Mr Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, the Government Relations Advisor, Mr Ozemoya Okordion.

AKIRS secures N1.2b judgement against Ardent Energy Services LTD ....warns against tax evasion

  The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has secured a landmark judgement against Ardent Energy Services Ltd, an oil servicing company operating in Akwa Ibom State. In a judgement delivered on July 3, 2025 at the Revenue Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, by the Presiding Revenue Judge, Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, the court ordered the defendant to pay to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the sum of N1.2bilion, including penalty and interest on the principal sum.  The judgement was in consequence to Suit No. Rue/77C/2022, filed by AKIRS. With this judgement, which is a major milestone in AKIRS tax compliance drive, the agency warns taxpayers to willingly comply to their civic obligations of always paying their taxes as and when due as there was no hiding place for defaulters.
