PDP Woman Leader Adds Feather, Bags Phenomenal Woman Of Worth From AWLO



The African Women in Leadership Organization (AWLO) has honoured the Woman Leader of People's Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State, Deaconess Mmeme Offiong Akpabio, with the award of 2019 Phenomenal Woman of Worth.

The award which was presented to Deaconess Akpabio during the AWLO 2019 Induction and Award Dinner on Sunday at Transcorp Hotels, Calabar, featured World Women leaders across the African Continent.

Presenting the award to Mrs. Akpabio, the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Chief (Dr.) Jewel Howard-Taylor, said the award is in recognition of her tireless exceptional humanitarian services consistent with the ideals of AWLO.

The Liberian Leader acknowledged her steadfastness and selfless services to women and as well encouraged other African women leaders to put in their very best in developing other women in different communities.

In a welcome address, the founder of AWLO, Dr. Elisha Attai thanked God for the achievements of the organization for the past eleven years and appreciated all the members for their steadfastness and commitment to the organization.

He noted that the objective of AWLO is to bring women all over the world for agenda setting, global impact on all African/American women.

Dr. Attai pointed out that AWLO is primarily focusing on advancing the course of women leadership across the world and to pick up women that are notable in Africa and the world at large to induct and celebrate them with the opportunity to tell their own story.

Reacting to the award presented to her, the Woman Leader of People's Democratic Party (PDP),  Deac. Mmeme Akpabio who was also inducted into AWLO, appreciated the leadership of AWLO for finding her worthy for the award and promised to work inline with the vision of the organization.

She thanked the Almighty God for the gift of life and appreciated Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel for bringing her to the limelight of leadership

She specifically appreciated the founder of the organization, Dr. Elisha Attai for creating a good platform that brings women together for common interest and also thanked the party PDP Chairman, Akwa Ibom State, Obong Paul Ekpo for his charismatic leadership in the party.

She expressed her excitement as a member of AWLO, saying that the organization has taken many African women to the global community.

Others at the event were, Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Prof. Benedict Ayade represented by the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Edem Williams, Senator Princess Florence Ita-Giwa, Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs) Linda Ayade,  Chief Dr Opral Mason Benson among others.

Meanwhile, African Women in Leadership Organization (AWLO) is an international not-for-profit organization.  Founded in 2009 for driving women's leadership through gender parity, leadership effectiveness and global development, with a membership of African women and women of African Descent, across 23 chapters and youth councils in 12 countries including USA and UK.

Financial Impropriety, Abuse Of Power: AKHA Receives Petition Against Ikono Chairman

  The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today during Plenary received a petition against the Council Chairman of Ikono, Hon.
