Ukanafun Constituency Office Inauguration Excites AKHA Speaker


The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has lauded the Member representing Ukanfun State Constituency, Hon. Dr. Charity on the Inauguration of her Constituency Office in Ikot Akpa Nkuk, Ukanafun Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, on Friday, the Speaker while describing Dr. Idio as a square peg in a square hole, also lauded her for empowering her constituents within six months in office, pointing out that the Lawmaker's gesture was unprecedented.

"I am happy to be here. Dr Charity is a square peg in a square hole. As a matter of fact, she heads one of the most powerful committees in the House of Assembly. So, it was not surprising when she told me that she'll have an Empowerment Programme within six months in office. Today, you have opened your Constituency Office and I have seen the number of people you have empowered, you have done very well", he said.

Continuing, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey commended Dr. Ido for living up to her responsibilities as a lawmaker and called for more support from Ukanafun people, to enable her achieve more laudable strides in the remaining years.

He promised that members of the 7th Assembly under his leadership, will continually provide a conducive environment for Dr. Charity Idio to excel in her legislative engagements.

"I know Ukanafun lost so much recently, because of militancy, so we will continually support Hon. Dr. Charity Ido for her to do well for Ukanafun people. I thank everyone who rose up to end crisis in Ukanafun", he added.

The Speaker also lauded the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for his support to the 7th Assembly and urged the people to remain steadfast with the current administration in the state.

He sued for unity amongst the people and particularly urged the youths to chart the way forward for the development of Ukanafun LGA by abstaining from acts that may disrupt peace and order which had since returned to the area.

"The Governor has been good with us (House of Assembly Members), because without the Governor's support, we wouldn't have been able to do so much for our people. I thank Dr Charity for ensuring that her constituents feel the Governor's support too. I urge Ukanafun youths, the elders, and women to embrace peaceful", he said.
