SENATE 2023: ETINAN ADOPTS ANIEKAN BASSEY, ASSURES LANDSLIDE VICTORY AT POLLS

 




Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District seat in the 2023 general elections, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has continued to receive blessings and support across the Senatorial District including the stakeholders and Traditional Rulers’ Council (TRC) of Etinan Local Government Area.


The adoption of Rt. Hon Bassey and assurance of landslide victory in the 2023 polls by the people of Etinan Local Government Area was made on Saturday at the Conference Hall of the TRC, Ikot Udo Otto, and at the Council Secretariat.


The Etinan royal fathers, led by the acting Chairman of TRC, Eteidung Effiong Etuk, declared their support for candidates of the PDP, specifically the candidate for Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District when he paid a visit to them.


The acting Chairman of TRC thanked the Senatorial Candidate and his team for the honour done the royal fathers and urged that the progressive message of PDP be taken to all nooks and crannies of Etinan. 


He further appealed to Rt. Hon. Bassey and his would-be National Assembly counterpart, Obong Paul Ekpo, who is the PDP Candidate for the Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency seat, to steer collaborations that will turnaround the fortunes of the federal constituency and senatorial district.


In their respective turns, other members of the TRC, which is made up of 64 villages, including Obong Ifiok Ukpong and Eteidung Dennis Akpan, assured the Speaker of overwhelming victory at the polls. 


Speaking, a former Member of the House of Representatives and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elder Sam Ikon, thanked the people of Etinan for the confidence repose on Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, assuring that “a vote for Aniekan Bassey and the PDP is a vote for the prosperity of Akwa Ibom State.”


Also speaking, the Deputy House Leader and Coordinator of the Aniekan Bassey Campaign in Etinan, Barrister Aniefiok Dennis, thanked the Speaker and his team for coming to Etinan and assured that Etinan will not let him and the PDP down.


In his remarks, the Candidate for Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency seat said “Mr. Speaker, we celebrate you in Etinan with all our hearts. We want you to know that we love you and we will go all the way for you in the forthcoming elections.”


Other speakers at the event, including Dr Okon Emah, Isantim Kenneth Okon, Engr. Billy Etuk and Hon. Imaobong Collins, thanked the Speaker for reeling out his people-oriented blueprint and for being truthful to the people of Etinan.

 

In his response, the Speaker expressed appreciation to members of the TRC and the people of Etinan for their show of love and support and promised to give effective and impactful representation, if elected as a Senator.


“I am going to the Red Chamber to make a difference. I am going to the Red Chamber to offer Etinan and Uyo Senatorial District effective representation. I am going to the Red Chamber to change the dynamics of the state and empower the people,” he stressed.


Speaking further, he said “Due to my vast experiences in the legislature, business, academics, entrepreneurship, I will offer representation that will add value to the people of Uyo Senatorial District and beyond. I have empowered thousands of young entrepreneurs. I have provided scholarships to indigent students. I have equipped the youth and rural women with working tools through my pet project, the RHAB-YESS Foundation.”


He further urged Etinan people to extend their votes to other candidates of the party from the Presidential, Governorship to the least positions.


Meanwhile, dignitaries present during the visit included the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council, Hon. Cletus Ekpo; PDP Candidate for Etnan State Constituency, Mr. Uduakobong Ekpo-Ufot; PDP Chapter Woman Leader, Lady Nsidibe Obot; former International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Akparawa Nse Ubeh; Leader of Etinan Legislative Council, Idorenyin Okon; Akparawa Udo Ekwere; Obong Patrick Udofia; Mr. Aniekeme Finbarr; Mr. Christian Amos Ufot, amongst others.
