ANIEKAN BASSEY APPRECIATES CAMPAIGN COUNCIL, COORDINATORS...Organizes a 3-Day Voters' Sensitization In Nine LGAs For Umo Eno, PDP Candidates




Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Senator-Elect for the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, Rt. Hon Aniekan Bassey, has appreciated members and Local Government Coordinators of his Campaign Council for their show of love, solidarity and support, which led to his victory at the February 25, 2023 polls.


Rt. Hon. Bassey, who made the note during a thank you parley on Thursday at his Osongoma residence, Uyo, appealed to his campaign team to reciprocate the same gesture to all PDP candidates in the forthcoming Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, scheduled for March 18, 2023. 


According to him, “I want to thank all of you for your many sacrifices and support towards my landslide victory at the polls on February 25, 2023. The victory is attributed to your loyalty, steadfastness and unprecedented support. I sincerely thank you and also appeal that you go back to your respective Units and mobilize voters for the PDP on Saturday, March 18, 2023 elections. Please, ensure same victory for Pastor Umo Eno and all PDP Candidates for State House of Assembly.”


The Senator Elect further said he will give people-oriented leadership with focus on human capacity development and empowerment, promising that he will establish Constituency Offices in all the nine (9) LGAs of the Senatorial District to facilitate access to democratic dividends.


in their separate remarks, the Uyo Local Government Coordinator of the Aniekan Bassey Campaign Council, Hon Monday Eyo, and the State PDP Vice Chairman (Uyo Senatorial District), Mr. Ibanga Brownson, commended the Speaker’s humility and thoughtfulness and promised to mobilize the people of Uyo for another landslide victory for the PDP in the March 18 elections. 


Present at the thank you event were the Deputy Leader of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Aniefiok Dennis Akpan (Etinan Coordinator); Member representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency, Hon. Hon Ifiok Udoh (Nsit Ibom Coordinator); Director General of the Aniekan Bassey Campaign Council, Obong Godwin Awah; his Secretary, Hon Ofonmbuk Ukim; Prince Tony Akan (Uruan Coordinator); Dr Ekaette Ebong-Okon (Itu Coordinator); Hon. Emmanuel Okono (Nsit Atai Coordinator); Dr Eventus Edem (Director of Publicity) amongst others.


Meanwhile, earlier in the week, the Senator-Elect, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey had mobilized a team to go into the grassroots on a 3-Day voters’ sensitization across the nine LGAs to canvass votes for the PDP and sensitize rural dwellers on the need to vote for PDP in the March 18, 2023 elections.


The LGAs visited were; Uruan, Nsit Atai, Nsit Ubium, Nsit Ibom, Etinan, Ibesikpo, Uyo, Itu and Ibiono Ibom LGA.

AKIRS secures N1.2b judgement against Ardent Energy Services LTD ....warns against tax evasion

  The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has secured a landmark judgement against Ardent Energy Services Ltd, an oil servicing company operating in Akwa Ibom State. In a judgement delivered on July 3, 2025 at the Revenue Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, by the Presiding Revenue Judge, Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, the court ordered the defendant to pay to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the sum of N1.2bilion, including penalty and interest on the principal sum.  The judgement was in consequence to Suit No. Rue/77C/2022, filed by AKIRS. With this judgement, which is a major milestone in AKIRS tax compliance drive, the agency warns taxpayers to willingly comply to their civic obligations of always paying their taxes as and when due as there was no hiding place for defaulters.
