ANIEKAN BASSEY CONGRATULATES NEW CLERK, THANKS MANDU UMOREN AS SHE BOWS OUT




Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has expressed deep felicitations to Mrs. NsikakAbasi Orok on her appointment and subsequent swearing-in as the new Clerk of the House.



Rt. Hon. Bassey, the Senator-Elect for the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial Distrct, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for the choice of Mrs. Orok, maintaining that her appointment is the handiwork of God.



He prayed God to give Mrs. Orok the wisdom and enablement to lead and also make easy the enormous responsibilities before her as the Clerk of the House.


The Speaker thanked the immediate past Clerk, Mrs. Mandu Umoren, for her invaluable dedication and commitment to the development of the state legislature.



While wishing Mrs. Umoren well in her future endeavours, Rt. Hon. Bassey described the retired Clerk as “a true virtuous woman whose humility and motherly love to all remains unparalleled. Your years of meritorious service to Akwa Ibom State have left indelible imprints for posterity.”



Mrs. Orok, a consummate and thoroughbred Civil Servant, until her appointment, was the Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.

AKIRS secures N1.2b judgement against Ardent Energy Services LTD ....warns against tax evasion

  The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) has secured a landmark judgement against Ardent Energy Services Ltd, an oil servicing company operating in Akwa Ibom State. In a judgement delivered on July 3, 2025 at the Revenue Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, by the Presiding Revenue Judge, Maureen-Idongesit M. Udoka, the court ordered the defendant to pay to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the sum of N1.2bilion, including penalty and interest on the principal sum.  The judgement was in consequence to Suit No. Rue/77C/2022, filed by AKIRS. With this judgement, which is a major milestone in AKIRS tax compliance drive, the agency warns taxpayers to willingly comply to their civic obligations of always paying their taxes as and when due as there was no hiding place for defaulters.
