Charles Udoh, Ini EmemObong 22 Ors Confirmed As Commissioners,Special Adviser




The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed 23 Commissioners and one Special Adviser nominees which was sent to it by the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.


It would be recalled that the House had on July 20, 2023, at Plenary, received a letter from Governor Eno, requesting it to confirm 23 persons as Commissioners and one as Special Adviser into the State Executive Council. 


In line with the procedure set out in Order 2, Rule 2 (3) of her Standing Order, the House deliberated on the letter and subsequently referred same to the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights and Public Petitions to screen the nominees and formally report back to the House.


Presenting the report at Plenary on Tuesday, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Prince-Aniefiok Attah representing Nsit Atai State Constituency, disclosed that the Committee screened the credentials and other relevant documents of the nominees, in line with Section 192 (4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.


He observed that there were no adverse reports against the nominees, noting that they were intelligent men and women of proven integrity who will add value to the administrative machinery of the Arise Agenda.


He commended Governor Umo Eno for selecting men and women of proven integrity into the State Executive Council, but however advised that the careers, academic qualifications, experiences and specialisation of the nominees should be considered in assigning portfolios to the nominees. 


Subsequently, the House after interacting with the nominees, ratified the Committee's recommendations and confirmed the nominees as Commissioners and Special Adviser. 


Those confirmed as Commissioners include Uko Essien Udom, SAN, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan, Mr. Bob Almond Emem, Capt. Iniobong Edward Ekong, Dr. Bassey Bassey Okon, Mr. Charles Udoh, Hon. Orman Esin, Offiong Samuel Offor, Engr. Camillus Essien Umoh, Rt. Hon. Uno Etim Uno, Otuekong Raphael Bassey and Aniefiok Isaac Nkom.


Others are Prof. Eno James Ibanga, Hon. Frank Archibong, Prof. Augustine Vincent Umoh, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Mrs. Idongesit Iboro Etiebiet, Ini Ememobong Essien, Dr. Imo Moffat, Enobong Udemeabasi Mbobo (Mrs), John James Etim and 

Brig. Gen. Koko Essien, rtd.


Similarly, Elder Amanam Nkanga, was confirmed as Special Adviser.


Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong , in his remarks, directed the Clerk, Mrs Nsikakabasi Orok, to communicate the resolution of the House to the Executive Governor for further action. 


In the meantime, the House has adjourned plenary till Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
