The Atak Oro Development Union, a prominent and apex  socio-cultural organization in Atak Oro political bloc Of  Okobo Local Government Area , has thrown its full  weight behind Hon. Bassey Pius Bassey, the incumbent representative of Okobo State constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and unanimously endorsed him for a second term in office.


The union  made the endorsement on  Friday, April 3, 2026, in Nsie Atak Oro Village before  proceeding On thank You Visit to Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey,  wherein they also lauded the lawmaker for donating an official vehicle to their organization. 


The President General of Atak Oro Development Union, Hon. Chief Effiong Asanwana, described the gesture  by Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey as historic and  unprecedented since the existence Of the Union for the past sixty five( 65)  years.






The visibly elated President General, referenced  Hon. Bassey Pius Bassey, Member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly as   the first public servant in Okobo Local Government Area to demonstrate such level of goodwill and Support to  Atak Oro Development Union.


We are pleased with Hon. Bassey's huge commitment to the development of Okobo and his willingness to support community initiatives. We believe he deserves a second term to continue with his effective representation, robust legislative engagement, human empowerment and other quality dividends of democracy ," Asanwana said.


Justifying the position Of Atak Oro political bloc regarding the 2027  Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly election, the  President General Of Atak Oro Development Union stated that between 2015- 2023, the Okobo State Constituency Seat in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly was occupied by a  daughter Of Atak Oro political bloc, Rt. Họn. Princess Felicia Bassey, immediate Past Deputy Speaker Of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly who represented Okobo State Constituency for uninterupted eight (8) years. 


Hẹ further explained that within this period Of Atak Oro Daughter  occupying Okobo State Constituency  seat in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, two Sons Of Okobo - Mbawa political bloc: Rt. Họn. Dr. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo who is the current Commissioner for Water Resoueces and Sanitation and Họn. Dr. Sylvester Attah wẹre holding sway to the Chairmanship seat Of Okobo Local Government Area.


The Atak Oro President General declared that in the forth coming 2027 House Of Assembly election, equity, justice and fairplay demand that an Okobo Son, who is doing excellently well in the House Of Assembly, Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey, be allowed to complete the 8 years Of two terms meant for Okobo- Mbawa political bloc in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, adding that the arrangement will further cement the existing bond Of Unity, Peace, fraternal love and brotherhood.


Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Chairman Of Okobo Local Government Area, Rt. Họn. Engr. George Henshaw who attended the Meeting as prominent Son of Atak Oro political bloc, saluted the ingenuity Of the leadership of Atak Oro Development Union in appreciating the goodwill extended to them by the Member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.


The Okobo Council helmsman also used the gathering to commend Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey for organising a colourful and impactful Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Program, stressing the nẹed for Okobo People to eshew the politics of bitterness, hatred and division, but embrace politics Of growth,  inclusiveness, unity and development.

While commending the leadership of Atak Oro Development Union for their decision to support the existing zoning  arrangement and commending quality representation, reiterated his unwavering Commitment to transparent, inclusive, purposeful and result-oriented administration in Okobo Local Government Council.


Speaking in affirmation of the collective position of Atak Oro Development Union in endorsing Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey for a Second term in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the Member, Board Of Trustees,Atak Oro Development Union and former Vice Chairman, Okobo Local Government Area, Rt.Họn Asuquo Koffi, treasurer, Atak Oro Development Union, Lady Josephine Ukoh noted that Supporting Okobo- Mbawa Political bloc to complete their rightful ( 8) years of two terms in Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, through Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey will not only encourage ranking in Legislative business but will sustain the relative peace and unity between Atak Oro and Okobo -Mbawa political blocs.


Responding, Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey who was apparently overwhelmed by the show of love, Support and solidarity showered On him by Atak Oro People, thanked the entire Okobo People for the mandate given to him to serve in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.


The Okobo lawmaker also thanked the leadership Of Atak Oro Development Union for their thoughtfulness in endorsing him for a Second term in Office, promising to upped the ante Of performance in representation and attract more dividends of democracy to his Constituents.


Bassey who is also the Chairman ,House Committee On Environment acknowledged the collaboration and mutually- beneficial partnership between himself, the Chairman Of Okobo Local Government Council and the entire Stakeholders Of Okobo Local Government Area.


While accepting the endorsement from Atak Oro Development Union, Họn. Bassey Pius Bassey also used the Occasion to declare his intention to seek re-election into the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 2027.


The visit was attended by the Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Rt. Họn. Engr. The union's endorsement is seen as a significant boost to Hon. Bassey's re-election bid, given the union's  influence and Strategic Position in the politics Of Okobo local government area.

Financial Impropriety, Abuse Of Power: AKHA Receives Petition Against Ikono Chairman

  The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today during Plenary received a petition against the Council Chairman of Ikono, Hon.
