AKHA Speaker Condoles Paul Ekpo Over Demise Of Wife

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom House of Assembly ( AKHA ) Rt.Hon.Elder Udeme Otong, yesterday led serving and former members of the Assembly members to the funeral service, organized by the Winner Chapel in honour of Deaconess Vivian Ekpo,the late wife of the member for Etinan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abuja, Obong Paul Ekpo. At Comprehensive Secondary school grounds, Nkana, Etinan Local Government Area where the ceremony took place,the Speaker, flanked by his wife, Deaconess Margaret, said in a condolence message, that the leadership and membership of the Assembly were sadden by the sudden demise of  Deaconess Vivian Ekpo who was a devout Christian. Police Smoke Out Alleged Notorious Criminal From Hideout …. As Court Remands Suspect in Correctional Facility

  The security component of the Arise Agenda of His Excellency, Governor  Umo Eno, is starting off on an encouraging note as an alleged notorious criminal, one Godwin Effiong Okon, male, who is purported to have been terrorising residents in Ikot Nsu, Ifa Atai communities in Uyo local government area, has been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police and subsequently arraigned before a  Court sitting in Uyo. The respondent , it was gathered, was recently arrested by the Eagle Response Squad, a special anti-crime wing of the Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Police, following credible  intelligence.  It was further learnt that, Godwin Effiong Okon who has confessed to the police of being a member of the Red Skin Confraternity had, before his eventual arrest, engaged the police in a gun duel along Nwaniba Road, Uyo. Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, today while meeting with members of the Organized Labour who joined their counterparts all over the country on a peaceful protest over unfair policies including subsidy Removal announced the Immediate release of One Billion Naira for settlement of gratuities of retired Primary School Teachers. Governor Eno while identifying with the.plight of workers also announced Leave Grant to be incorporated into monthly salaries for prompt payment, to set up a Committee for disbursement of Federal and State Government Palliatives in ten days to cushion effects of the subsidy removal.

The threat posed by a ravaging gully erosion menace at Northern Annang Secondary Commercial School, Etim Ekpo LGA formed part of deliberations of Lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly during Plenary yesterday.
