Entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom State have been urged to brace up as the completion agenda of Deacon Udom Emmanuel has a lot in stock for them. The Senior Special Assistant on Microfinance and Enterprise Development to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Mr. Ime Uwah stated this today when members of the “Made in Akwa Ibom Show Room” paid him a courtesy call in his office.
Uwah Said Mr. Emmanuel’s completion agenda has given priority to Micro and small business development stating that there is a conscious effort to develop SMEs in the completion agenda. He listed the efforts to include proposed development of incubation centers, trainings and capacity development as well as provision of loans and other interest free facilities to small and medium scale entrepreneurs.
Mr. Ime Uwah promised to work with members of the Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs community in general and the made in Akwa Ibom showroom in particular to harness and collate the enormous human capital that abound in the entrepreneurial community, facilitate training and skill acquisition as well as guarantee facilities for its members.
Earlier, the leader of Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs and chief Executive Officer Made In Akwa Ibom Showroom, Mr.Collins Oscar thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing a core entrepreneur, Mr. Ime Uwah as SSA on microfinance and enterprise development. Oscar said the team was at the directorate to seek support and partnership for their projects and endeavors which he listed to include: Building of a Made in Akwa Ibom Factory, Expansion Of their Marketing line, as well as support and facilitation towards acquiring NAFDAC and SON approvals for their products.
In attendance were Secretary, Akwa Ibom Microcredit scheme, Mr Monday John, Legal Adviser, Made in Akwa Ibom Showroom, Mrs Enwongo Cleopas-Akwa and a cross section of the Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurial community.
It can be recalled that the newly created Office of the SSA to the governor on microfinance and Enterprise Development has since sprung into action, with its latest efforts being the “My Entrepreneurship Goals Programme”(MEGP) which seeks to help young businesses in Akwa Ibom state to define clear goals and objectives for their businesses.
