Chartered Institute Of Leadership Honours AKHA Speaker With Fellowship, Legislative Leadership Award




The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey has been bestowed with  Chartered Institute Of Leadership today bestowed on the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Fellow of the Institute.

Presenting the award during a Courtesy Call on the Speaker at the Akwa Ibom Speaker's Lodge, Uyo, today Wednesday, National President of the Institute, Mr Aniebiet Udofia described Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey as a distinguished legislator in the State and conveyed the Institute's felicitations to him on his emergence as Speaker of the 7th Assembly. 

Udofia while presenting the Akwa Ibom Blueprint Project 2037 to the Speaker, said the template is a proposed framework for development aimed at meeting the needs of the people without compromising the need of future generations.

He added that the project focuses on economic growth, environmental sustainability and social development and said when implemented, the blueprint will enable each community in the state to decide what issues are more pressing and also enable the state government address those concerns.

Responding, the Speaker thanked the Institute for the visit and said the awards will enable him live according to the dictates of what he called true leadership. 

He promised to study the blueprint and to liaise with the Executive for its implementation.

The Speaker revealed the Assembly will soon embark on town hall meetings across various communities in the state, so as to ascertain and address pressing issues of those communities. 

"Very soon we will go into town hall meetings to know the needs and yearnings of each community and to address the needs of these communities through government agencies.

"We won't just undertake projects in communities, but projects that are tailored to meet the needs of the people. I believe in the next few weeks or months, we will start our town hall meetings", he said. 

He called on leaders to see themselves as servants and Masters and they should strive to better the society in whatever decisions they take. 

Present during the courtesy visit were Head of Management and Administration of the Institute, Hon. Isong Ntuen, Admissions Officer, 
Mrs Emem Edu, amongst others.
